3791 The Beauty in Front of You

Psalm 126 captures a truth that reshapes how we view our darkest moments. “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy” (Psalm 126:5, KJV) isn’t just a comforting phrase—it’s a radical promise that turns pain into purpose and grief into growth, from tears to triumph. Imagine a farmer during a famine. Each seed he scatters is a gamble—a precious resource he could have kept for immediate survival. Yet, in that act of trust, he sows for a future harvest. This image shows us the heart of faith in our hard seasons: we give when it hurts, we hope when it’s hard, and we believe when the future looks bleak.&nbsp; God acknowledges this kind of faith, and Psalm 126 goes further:&nbsp;“He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him” (Psalm 126:6, KJV). The phrase “shall doubtless come again” stresses the certainty of God’s promise—not maybe, but definitely. Our tears aren’t meaningless. Scripture reminds us that God “keeps careful record of our tears” (Psalm 56:8). Every tear that slips silently down your cheek waters the soil for a future joy. Every prayer whispered through pain, every act of obedience despite heartbreak, and every courageous step forward in the midst of sorrow counts as the sacred sowing of life to come. This faith is active. It moves despite feelings; it persists beyond circumstances. The K.I.S.S. ~ From tears to triumph!   The psalmist gives us hope beyond the pain: morning will break. The long night of lament will yield to a dawn bursting with “sheaves”—abundant blessings harvested from seasons of hardship. It echoes the promise in Galatians 6:9, “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” The harvest is coming. Your hardship is not your home. Your weeping is preparing the ground for your rejoicing. So hold on to this promise. When sorrow feels endless and tears fall often, remember you are sowing in faith. What you plant now, watered by your endurance and trust, God will bring back to you “with rejoicing.” The waiting is hard, but it is never wasted. Why is it that we keep asking ourselves if we’re ready to chase our dreams? Why do we convince ourselves to wait for the “perfect” moment—a moment that never actually comes? If these doubts are swirling in your head, then maybe you should flip the question. Instead of “Am I ready?” or “Is this the right time?” ask yourself: “Is now the right time?” As I was returning home from our vacation, I came across an Amazon Prime Same-Day Delivery Truck. They promise lightning-fast same-day delivery, showing us that waiting doesn’t have to be part of the equation. What if you treated one of your next steps toward your goal like same-day delivery? The truth is, maybe you don’t want to hear the answer “Yes, now is the right time,” because it means you’re going to have to face the same excuses you’ve been rehearsing for years:  “I don’t have enough money,” “I’m not skilled enough yet,” “My timing isn’t perfect.”&nbsp;  But if you want different results, you have to be willing to do something different. So why not be like that Amazon Prime truck—showing up the very day someone hit “buy,” ready to deliver? Here’s a reality check: “now” is the only time you truly control. Waiting for perfect conditions is just a way to avoid facing discomfort, uncertainty, or risk. If you want to own your dreams, you need to get real with what “NOW” means to you. The K.I.S.S. ~ Get real with N.O.W.!   So let’s break it down with a simple framework—a way to get brutally honest with yourself. What 3 things can you use to define NOW when it comes to your dream? N.O.W.: Need, Own, Win   Need: Strip away the fluff. Why do you&nbsp;need&nbsp;to act now? What’s the cost of waiting longer? Is it a growing gap between where you are and where you want to be? Or a missed chance to prove yourself? Pinpointing your urgency is the first step. If your dream is truly a need, not just a want, your resistance to act fades fast.   Own: Take full responsibility. Do you own your dream and the obstacles in your way? No one else’s timing matters but yours. This means calling out the excuses and deciding you are the person who moves this forward. Owning your part means no more blaming “not enough time,” “not enough resources,” or “not the right market.” That’s the mindset shift that turns ideas into action.   Win: What will a win look like today—right now? It doesn’t have to be a giant leap. A win might be making a call, drafting a simple plan, or sharing your vision with someone. The point is to create momentum. Same-day delivery isn’t about the full order, it’s about showing up&nbsp;now&nbsp;with something real to push you toward your goal. Here are three intentional moves parents can make to stay in the game and truly savor each stage—not just endure it. 1. Show Up Fully in the Moment, Not Just on the Clock It’s easy to survive day to day without really showing up. Checking off boxes, putting out fires, keeping schedules—but emotionally checked out, mentally elsewhere. But your kids don’t just need your presence; they need your engagement. Put down your phone. Stop thinking about the next thing on your to-do list. When your child talks, really listen. When they play, play with them. When they struggle, sit with the discomfort instead of looking for quick fixes. Showing up fully stretches your patience and attention, but it keeps you connected so you don’t feel like a spectator as your children grow. 2. Lean into Change Instead of Resisting It Every phase with your child demands something new from you—and sometimes that’s wildly uncomfortable. Whether it’s toddler tantrums melting into school anxiety, or shy little ones becoming moody teens, resisting those changes only leaves you feeling left behind and overwhelmed. Choose to lean into the messy, confusing, and exhilarating growth—for yourself and your child. Learn new skills, pick up a book about their stage of life, and ask questions about who they’re becoming. This mindset will help you evolve alongside your children instead of being left stuck in your own ideas of parenting. 3. Build Your Own Passions and Identity Outside of Parenting When your life revolves entirely around your kids, it’s easy to feel like you’ve lost yourself. But that loss is the fast track to burnout and regret. Parenting is huge, but it’s not all you are. Keep something in your life that’s just for you—a hobby, a craft, a friendship, a daily habit—that fills your cup and sparks joy. This isn’t selfish; it’s survival. When you nourish your own identity, you bring more energy, patience, and presence to your role as a parent. You grow—so your kids see growth modeled, not just growth demanded.
