Soul Connection returns to Smooth N Groove Records with his 'Funk inc' EP. With years of production experience in the bag and a back catalog to rival any of the most prolific producers in the scene. He has a string of previous releases on various labels including Directors Cut, Influenza, Sound Trax, Textures, Soul Deep and most recently a single on Sheer Velocity featuring his track 'Black Prints'. 

You won't be disappointed with the 'Funk inc' EP it is without doubt typical of the standard expected from Soul Connection.  Starting off with the title track 'Funk Inc.' Containing groovy synth sounds and vocals laid over rolling drums. Transitioning into the second track 'Forever in My Soul' packs a deep and heavy bass line with crisp atmospherics to compliment. Moving into  'Sub Signal', Soul Connection switches it up with a darker synth sound and punching bass. Finally finishing out the EP, 'Give it Back' is a funky roller that combines atmospheric vocals over a a range of wkd samples. Salute and respect goes out to Soul Connection for providing the label with yet another top shelf release.

2000 years ago, far away from our home planet BASS,  researchers discovered a different world in a distant galaxy.
With the intention to bring our sound and culture closer to a foreign civilization, they sent us on a 1500 light-years long journey. After two years, we finally reached the planet Earth. Since then, we dedicate ourselves completely to fulfill the task of our mission.
We quickly recognized the advantages of planet Earth. There are confetti, fire, glitter, beautiful women, funny animals and many other great things that we insert into our stage shows. With our gun we should actually pulverize the musical resistors, but we prefer it to shoot confetti and glitter through it into the crowd. As we started to feel really comfortable here, we are currently negotiating with human musicians and plan for some future record releases.

They recreated everything they had found on earth in that field into supernatural sound stories, always being one step ahead of the pulse of time. 
During their shows they work with everything that is not screwed down. A wake of devastation, purled by confetti and glitz, marks their way through the clubs of the hemisphere. 
As they have found a lot of new friends down here, they don’t miss their home planet anymore. 
This year the BASSRAKETEN will be heading to various national and international dance clubs and festivals again to promote their mission.

Hey, Gareth here, I'm a graphic designer who start designing for clubs, parties, and labels in the late 90s. Back then, mix CDs were the holy grail of both design and music. I loved them.

But I wasn't the only one, mix cds were the soundtracks of our nights, our days, our afterparties and lives, for everyone. Yet in today's internet age, the art form has been lost (or just changed) to 2-3 hour online mixes and streaming videos, which just don't create the same magic your CD collection did. Just 60 minutes of music and incredible artwork.

The Classic Mix CD Series celebrates these discs, their soundtrack, their box art and your memories. We hope you enjoy it.

About Gareth:
Digital creative type, gamer, music lover and occasional DJ. Currently living between Dubai & Seoul after setting sail from Sunderland in 2010. As a young designer, club and music culture was the driving force for his work, producing artwork for local club nights and record labels in the North East of England. In particular, DJ mix cds and their packaging were always his 'holy grail of design', especially those from Renaissance, Global Underground and Good Looking Records. It's a pleasure to share these discs back with people and they still influence our tastes to this day.
