Melodies of Gaming is my musical analysis series that explores reimagined songs in official game titles, with the first 8 episodes hosted on GameXplain.  And this piece serves as both the opening theme and ending theme by sampling the A and B sections.  It's a jazz fusion with some inspiration from both a chord progression shown by a music instructor from nearly 30 years ago, and some flair from a JRPG.  In addition, the percussion takes cues from one of the sample heavy beats of the Roland FA workstation keyboard.  An older version of the composition was used for episodes 1-8, but now it has better balance and a new bassline.  Please enjoy this music in its complete form!

SO! This is actually just the part of the song the played underneath the action of the reveal of King K. Rool and the extra bit of music they put out on the SSBI blog, which extreme credit to Gamexplain for actually doing the hard ass work of splicing the pieces together. All I did was remove the intro and outro bits.

#18 of A Song A Day would play at the entrance to some massive castle. Like some pixel art game with a huge castle in the background and you have to progress through a level to arrive at the front doorstep. I'm. thinking the sun should also be setting. So kinda a foreboding but groovy theme!
