In a temple tucked under a banyan tree,
Lives a jolly ol’ god who’s as sweet as can be.
With a trunk so long and ears spread wide,
It’s Ganesha, with a sweet tooth he can’t hide.

He munches on modaks, each a tasty treat,
Stuffed with jaggery and coconut—oh, so sweet!
Laddus round as the moon in a monsoon June,
He hums a little tune under the silver spoon.

“Oh dear, oh dear,” says he with a grin,
“I can’t stop eating, where do I begin?”
His belly’s quite round, his joy quite infectious,
For sweets make him boundlessly zealous.

From village to village, they know his taste,
Prepare the sweets, no time to waste.
For when Ganesha comes to bless the feast,
He looks for sweets, to say the least.

So if you hear a giggle by the sweets plate,
It’s just Ganesha, don’t make him wait.
Offer him a sweet, make it two, make it three,
And in return, good fortune there’ll be!

I started writing over 50 years ago and this is basically a working sketchbook of songs, ideas, partial recordings, live takes, rehearsals, studio bits and pieces, old recordings restored from cassette tapes, versions recorded by or featuring various friends, commissions and songs written for others to sing. It's just a small and diverse sample ( probably only 20% ) of what's been composed over that time. About 80 songs from the last twenty years have not been recorded or completed to date. If you find anything you like; that's a bonus, but I'm not here for that.

The circle of creation, and the digital ability to listen to and observe the musical journey from years ago, to the present.
