This piece is a reaffirming stance of what I believe. I believe that we all need to reclaim our agency in whatever form is necessary, and mine was through taking a gap and exploring my interests.

The concept of a gap year never really crossed my mind until graduation, when I looked around and realized that I was merely a reflection of all those who surrounded me. Waking up, seeing, and talking to the same people every day for the past 15 years of my life.

That's when I noticed that I owe this year to myself to discover and understand who I am without these people, and that's when I did. I spent the entire year jumping around from job to job, meeting new people, and experiencing life. 

Let me tell you, it was well worth it. That's why I say take that year off, trust me.
