Hablamos de Rafael Martínez espinosa, más conocido como GEISTFORM o UNIVAC en sus tramites como compositor de música electrónica.

Nos centraremos en su aka GEISTFORM, haciendo una selección de temas de 2 de sus álbumes mas determinantes a nuestra manera de ver, “United Radiations” y “Transmitter”, ambos editados por el sello aleman “Hands Productions”, fundado por Udo Wiessmann en 1990 como plataforma independiente y siendo futuramente un referente de la electrónica underground.

Además, contaremos con la primicia de un par de tracks de su próximo álbum, estarán escondidos en la exposición de hoy…

Para hablar de Rafa nos dirigimos a Rubí, Barcelona, centrando el discurso de hoy en su alias GEISTFORM, cual se orienta al techno de aromas mentales, industriales, y ciertamente infinitos.

Su purismo destaca la analogía digitalizada dentro de lo ecléctico, siendo la reiteración y sequedad, sus rastros inconfundibles. 

Desarrolla sonidos tratados por sintetizadores y frecuencias puras, enfatizando ese estilo tan querido en su propuesta artística. 

Sus enfoques tienen algo especial, muy diferentes al artista "promedio" del género. Esta es una música para bailar presentada en atmósferas hostiles con composiciones que carecen de sentimiento donde predominan los sonidos frígidos, reiterativos o sistemáticos.

Cada episodio es un viaje a través del tiempo y el sonido, mientras exploramos la música y las historias detrás de los artistas que han dado forma a la escena.

Nuestro primer invitado es una figura icónica en la escena electrónica, Rafael M. Espinosa, que ha estado creando magia desde hace años y es el cerebro detrás de dos proyectos extraordinarios: Geistform y Univac (@geistform_univac ).

Bajo el alias de Geistform, ha creado una sólida reputación en la escena de la música electrónica. Rafa comenzó su carrera a principios de la década de 2000 y lanzó varios álbumes y colaboraciones en diferentes sellos de música electrónica. Sus producciones, generadas principalmente a partir de fuentes analógicas, están influenciadas por el minimal techno / electro y la música noise-experimental.

Por otro lado, como Univac, se enfoca en sonidos analógicos, ritmos y secuencias, y se sumerge en la escena electro. Su enfoque en la música electrónica, conocido como el "Hague sound" y "robot electro", ha ganado admiradores en todo el mundo. En 2011, debutó con su EP "Radiation" en el legendario sello Bunker Records (Holanda). Desde entonces, su música ha sido una revelación en la escena.

Alone in the Dark ☠️ @alone-in-the-dark-dj〰️⛓️ is a DJ from Leipzig, Germany who, inspired by the huge underground goth and techno scene in the city, embarked on his DJing journey in 2023. While listening to alternative music since more than 20 years, he recently found his favorite sound in a mix of dark electronic music, spanning from wave to techno. His sets are characterized by a focus on melancholic vibes, seamlessly blended with dark, energetic beats and soundscapes.

This mix was heavily inspired by its final song, the Ancient Methods remix of Konstantin Unwohl’s – “Ein Gewitter zieht auf” resulting in a sound ranging from EBM to Dark/Hypnotic Techno to Rhythm 'n' Noise oscillating between meditative and ecstatic beats.

Syntax Electronix is a label located in Valencia, Spain. Dedicated to publishing electronic music, with a biweekly radio program (Syntax AIR @ Radio PICA) and an itinerant promoter of events.

Vanity Dust is an independent journalist focusing on electronic music, active since 2008 and devoted to the global Techno scene while keeping a strong connection with Barcelona and Spain stablished and uprising talents. 

Vanity features première tracks, in-depth interviews and runs a podcast series since 2016 (@ypiw). Along the journey, he has also published articles via other media: Mixmag (ES), Dj Mag (ES), Vicious Mag or eldiario.es, amongst others.

In 2021, Dust Trax (@dusttrax) appears as a captivating Vanity Dust spin-off: a digital record label that releases single tracks featuring artists that have been relevant to the project since its early beginnings, more than 15 years ago.
