Genius Of Time conclude their vocal series this March with the third release in the series, comprising three originals and featuring vocalists Ashar Khan and Matinda.
Genius Of Time : When we began working on the Vocal Series, it was all about diving into our love for vocal-centric house music! One aspect that's always fascinated us is how a strong vocal can carry a track alongside quite bare-bone beats. So with this project we wanted to put the vocal front and center and build dance tracks around the vocal hook. It's been a bit of exploration for us to see where it's possible to take the GoT project and also experimenting with vocals, using them as samples or in terms of using them as an acapella and almost remixing ourselves. Also, somewhat going back to the roots of good dance tracks that has been very inspiring to us, in its raw form of a good hook and a good groove. – Alex & Nils
Leading the release is title-cut ‘You Make Me’, fuelled by bumpy breaks, twitchy stab sequences, intricately intertwined vocal lines courtesy of Ashar Khan and fluttering synth melodies throughout.
‘Magnified’ follows, once again featuring Ashar Khan’s vocal stylings while sonically embracing a UK Garage leaning aesthetic with gritty bass swells, a crisp, shuffled rhythm section, airy chords and resonant licks. ‘Kinetic ft. Matinda’ then rounds out the release and the series in full, leaning into more raw, dubbed out house realms with gritty bass stabs, organic percussion, spiralling echoes and soulful vocal lines.

Our Club Nights and Festival appearances have supported and booked DJs that include Dam Swindle, DJ Sneak, Dusky, Paul Woolford, George Fitzgerald, DJ Haus, Brawther, Robert Owens, Mella Dee, Slam, Horse Meat Disco, MK, Booka Shade, Chaos in the CBD, Darius Syrossian, Green Velvet, Purple Disco Machine, Basement Jaxx, John Digweed, James Zabeila, Palms Trax, Jamie Trench, Oli Furness and Ejeca.

This project is our creative platform to celebrate and share our collective love for House, Funk, Soul, Disco and any oddity or curve ball we come across in-between.

Klaus Benedek grew up in a small town near Vienna. His interest in electronic music began during the 90s techno hype. He spent hours watching video clips on MTV and viva and thus gaining knowledge about electronic music. In 2004, he began teaching himself to produce. Gathering his inspiration wherever he could, he began collecting 12" vinyl records the same year and 2 years later got his first dj-gigs. From 2008 till 2010 he was one of the resident DJs at the MNML Thursdays in the Camera Club. In 2012 he started with Alex Kolodziej the event-series Tellerbetrieb. Currently he finds most of his inspiration in Chicago House, Deep House, Disco and Breakbeat. After releases on labels like Petrol Dollar, Subversaal, rekooda, Soul Shift Music, Clean and Dirty Recordings and tanzbar, Klaus launched his own label forTunea in 2014.
