Nazwa zespołu wywodzi się od włoskiego słowa Ribaldo, (po polsku - rybałt) które oznacza śpiewaka wędrownego, który zarabiał na życie koncertując w karczmach i podróżując z miasta do miasta. Misją Rybałtek jest pokazanie słuchaczom piękna, żywiołu i uniwersalności, jaki cechuje repertuar muzyki dawnej.

In the biting grip of winter, our musical odyssey took root in a place echoing with history—Al Capone's bathhouse. This unlikely sanctuary, armed with only a 4-track recorder, became the cradle for what was to blossom into a groundbreaking hit. Here, in the depths of Otto Roscher's basement, a seemingly humble yet acoustically rich haven, the Seahorse Liberation Army was born. Amid the cold, the warmth of Sarah Pedal, affectionately dubbed "Baby Birkin," and the company of kittens fueled our creativity and resolve. Matthew Strange and Erik Seidenglanz embarked on crafting a Situationist album, a project that wove together dedication, art, and a shared vision, foreseeing its evolution into a live ensemble.

The heartbeat of our collective came to life through Ryan Rapsys's drumming prowess, recognized across the United States. The final piece of our ensemble, Elishba Iturra, solidified the Seahorse Liberation Army into a unified force. Yet, the journey was not without its trials. The quest for pristine sound led us to turn off the heating during takes, confronting us with the raw chill of winter. It was here, in the most intimate of settings, that warmth came from an unexpected source: a 19-year-old girl, her presence a necessity, clinging for warmth in a gesture reminiscent of a koala bear, an intimate human element intertwined with our artistic creation.

Descending into Roscher's basement revealed a treasure trove of musical instruments—a veritable Aladdin's cave. Among these were every imaginable model of electric piano, the Hohner D6 Clavinet, Chroma Polaris, Moog Rogue, and others, all forming the backbone of our sound. Sarah Pedal, our "yé-yé" historian, provided invaluable insights into this genre, guiding our exploration with authenticity and passion.

This collection, our cold battles, and the unyielding dedication of each member and our supportive muse, "Baby Birkin," underpinned the unique soundscapes of the Seahorse Liberation Army. We extend an invitation to you: join us on this remarkable journey, a testament to creativity, resilience, and the unbreakable bonds formed in the most unexpected places.
