This sound piece was made in collaboration with Lourenço Soares, while we both spent 2 weeks at the artist residency Gepäckausgabe in Glarus, in June 2023. 

Shown at the resulting exhibition "LALALA Expedition, 100 million years of progress",  this work was displayed with 2 loudspeakers, placed each in distant parts of the exhibition, resonating with the room. It was composed with field recordings conducted around Glarus while we wandered and went hiking. Additionally, we included abstract sounds that were recycled from a former work developed by Lourenço with fragments o music composed by João Carreiro.
We were interested in capturing ambient sounds of trees, wind, and water, but especially recording from perspectives at the intersection of different environments, and also the moments when the microphone touches or is touched. These physical contacts seemed to us to have a special materiality that anchors the body to the present. A present where the imaginary is permanently shaped by the media and technology.

artist and filmmaker born in Bogotá, Colombia. Working in Geneva & Zurich and Colombia, his practice wanders across a variety of media from installations, sound activations and hybrid films, that often investigate histories embedded in popular musics, geological fabulations, fictions of time, through attentive listenings. His practice is informed by a sensibility for the political implications of sound and aims to challenge hegemonic notions of western representation, neglected histories and its connections with dominant cinematic imaginations. 

He holds a Bachelor and a Master in Fine Arts from ZHdK (Zurich University of the Arts), and a Master in Film directing from ECAL / HEAD, after studying Filmmaking at Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires and in ENS Louis Lumière in Paris.
