Football season may be upon us, but summertime in Michigan means golf, and we're joined by someone who knows all about the golf scene in Michigan on Ep. 373. Bill Hobson of Michigan Golf Live (@mglbill) checks in with us to talk about some hidden gem courses in Michigan, how he got into the golf content field, as well as some really cool stories from his time covering the game. Fans of 3PP know we're football guys, and the ultimate football position is the fullback. Matt Saunders of Last of the Fullbacks (@TheLastFullback) hops on to talk about his content, how the game of football has evolved, and why he loves the fullback position. Also, the NCAA completed their investigation of the Michigan football program, and no hammer was dropped. We give our thoughts on that whole situation, and plenty more on this week's podcast. 3PP 147: Matt Patricia Fired, "Heart of a Lions Fan" Director Mike Vanderpool, Michigan Football

Joel Puckett is a composer leaving both audiences and the press buzzing. His music has been described as, “soaringly lyrical” (Minneapolis Star Tribune), “Puccini-esque” (Wall Street Journal), and “containing a density within a clarity, polyphony within the simple and – most importantly – beautiful and seemingly spiritual.” (Audiophile Audition). Parterre Box recently proclaimed, “Puckett should be a household name” and the Philadelphia Inquirer’s David Patrick Stearns mused, “if the name Joel Puckett isn’t etched into your brain, it should be.” In 2011 NPR Music listed him as one of the top 100 composers under 40 in the world.

Hailed as “visionary” (Washington Post) and “an astonishingly original voice” (Philadelphia Inquirer), his music is performed by the leading artists of our day and is consistently recognized by organizations such as the American Composers Forum, BMI, Chorus America, National Public Radio, and the American Bandmasters Association.

Puckett’s music attracts diverse performers and listeners through its emotional energy and commitment. Melding tradition with innovation, his distinctive style grows from his power to create transcendent experiences using charismatic musical language.

The Fix, a grand opera commissioned by Minnesota Opera, premiered in the March 2019 to packed houses, enthusiastic audiences, and largely effusve praise. With a libretto by Academy Award and Tony Award winner, Eric Simonson, the work depicts the rise and fall of the 1919 Chicago White Sox. It is a tragedy ripe with power, romance and redemption, set against the backdrop of America’s favorite pastime. Puckett’s earlier commissions have been premiered and performed worldwide, to exuberant critical acclaim.

His flute concerto, The Shadow of Sirius, premiered in 2010 and has received more than 200 performances and been recorded multiple times, including 2015’s Naxos Surround Sound disc, “Shadow of Sirius,” which received a 2016 Grammy Nomination. Currently the Chair of Music Theory, Ear Training, and Piano Skills at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Puckett presents workshops nationwide and frequently serves as an adjudicator at competitions for rising composers. His music is represented worldwide by Bill Holab Music.

3 guys, 3 generations, all from the same mid-Michigan town of Corunna. We all played multiple varsity sports at a high level and are currently working as members of the sports media.

Ted, the Baby Boomer of the bunch, attended Central Michigan University and since the mid 80’s has hosted The Sports Forum radio show and called high school play-by-play of a multitude of sports.

Our Generation-X co-host, Matt Burns, moved on from Corunna where he was a record setting wide receiver and graduated from Grand Valley State University. He now makes his living at ESPN.

Our youngest viewpoints will come from the Millennial of the trio Jerod Fattal. J-Rod starred at quarterback for the Cavaliers graduating in 2017, recently graduated from GVSU, and is working at Bally Sports Detroit.

Along with our unique 3 generation look at sports, pop culture, and current events, we have on a wide variety of guests; from ESPN's Ryan McGee, Ferris St. Head Football coach Tony Annese, media personalities Annie Agar and Wes Blankenship, ESPN Detroit Lions Insider Eric Woodyard, and plenty more!

Founded in 1859, The University of Michigan Men's Glee Club is one of the oldest collegiate chorus in the United States and the oldest continually-run student organization on the Michigan campus. Long acclaimed as one of the finest male choruses in the world, the Glee Club has achieved this stature by sustaining and respecting the traditions which have been established during its 154 year history.
The graduate and undergraduate members of the Glee Club, chosen by audition at the beginning of both the Fall and Winter terms, represent a wide spectrum of majors in a majority of the University's 19 schools and colleges. Its student officers are responsible for the management of all non-musical Glee Club operations. The Glee Club has become renowned for its wide repertoire of music that incorporates selections from different musical styles and periods including Renaissance motets, Romantic anthems, opera choruses, folksongs, spirituals, contemporary works, and, of course, Michigan songs.
