no kick's were used for this experiment, it was  built around using sub bass samples I got from Kevin willow. The sample is from the Ministry side project, 1000 Homo dj's cover of the Black Sabbath song, supernaught ft Trent Reznor but it's actually them sampling a speech by Art Linkletter about the dangers of drugs and music.

015 of our mix series explores the many layers of Winnipeg resident elle fast.

I have gotten to know elle fast over the last few years and she is just as just as curious about her selections as she is a force behind the decks. Not to mention a great person which I sometimes find is lacking in this black hole of a music scene….. I digress. 

elle fast is a dance floor loiterer/supporter/promoter who very much enjoys the deep connections enabled through music.

Dedicated to finding unusual grooves for dance floor catharsis, her sets weave through assorted shades and eras of house, techno, and breakbeat, often held together by a thick bassline and/or generous helping of machine funk.

Current projects and affiliations include music for bathtubs., a mix series focusing on chill/leftfield sounds; Proper., a Winnipeg-based event series showcasing local artists; and Pan-tone, a DIY collective of hardware/live techno enthusiasts.

Some words from elle fast regarding the mix : “A running theme this summer was playing music outside with friends, so I wanted to save some of those vibes to carry into the colder months. There are a bunch of tunes from pals featured in this mix, along with some deeper moods from artists and labels that I've been into lately.”

What better a way to relive the fun patio house moments of Summer than to jump into the groove with this carefully curated mix for your mind your body and your soul.

Based in Berlin, I’m deeply rooted in the city’s music scene. My journey began with classical music and eventually led me into the world of electronic sound. Over the years, I’ve played at some of the most iconic venues like Sisyphos, ://about Blank, Ritter Butzke, Salon zur wilden Renate, Mensch Meier, Anomalie Art Club, Kosmonaut, Birgit&Bier, Polygon, and Magdalena, shaping unforgettable nights on Berlin’s dance floors. I’ve also made my mark internationally, including at Nuit Sonore in Brussels.

With a wide range of musical styles, I move seamlessly between classical influences and driving electronic beats. My sets are a sonic journey, telling new stories each time—for those ready to embrace the magic of the night.

Drawing influences from dubstep, weird bass, footwork, IDM, jungle, jersey club, hip-hop, metal, glitch, industrial, punk, abstract, deconstructed club,  and other stuff to create my personal sonic language. I make these sounds for me but I hope they speak to you also

Musician, designer, composer, inventor and spiritualist. My music is inspired spiritually and musically. In youth I played Bach, funk, jazz and reggae. I played in nylon string guitar duo which I warmly remember. I studied indian Ragas for some time and listen to Indian classical music for some years. Performed with tabla and recorder demo. I was always involved in kirtan projects and informal chanting in groups. I have developed mix between guitar and Indian vina / sitar (see: www.vidyafusion.com). I have two projects going, instrumental & vocal. I have started singing in 2005. Most material here is demo. I still maintain small logo and web design agency www.theMmedia.com. 

I hold the view that music is an expression of the soul and heart, and not so much of  intellect and technic. True music comes from silence, point of inner focus. 

I was a monk for 12 years living in India (Mayaur, West Bengal) and in Europe. I live now in Canada but looking elsewhere. I have faithful and loving wife and smart son and very talented beautiful daughter. We want to live in uplifting environment with uplifting people. We think there is a deeper meaning to music and art in general - more lasting.

Bringing abundance to the dance floor ✨ Music has always had a way of pulling me into the present. I grew up living in Panama and Germany where I was exposed to sounds I’ll cherish forever; salsa, merengue, samba in Latin America in the ’90s, electronic music in Europe in the mid-2000s. That infused with an Americana third culture upbringing abroad, I found my ability to relate to others without speaking. As I dove into the electronic music scene in my early 20’s, music became one of the many ways I learned how to make an impact on the world.

Now as an artist, it’s always been my aim to impart that impact and presentness with others. I’ve experienced so many beautiful moments under a DJ’s spell, completely present-minded and entranced, it’s a goal of mine to give that feeling back. Now in a world full of distractions, giving someone the space to outsmart their smartphone is the best gift of all.
