This piece was inspired by cloudy overcast days that are not gloomy, but instead - strangely cozy and comforting. It's about finding warmth in the melancholy and finding beauty in the chaos. 

It's inspired by my two current obsessions: organs and the Elgar cello concerto. I'm fascinated by the oscillating quality of the organ's sound, which I have tried to emulate using a synthesiser (Deckhard's Dream). The water-like soundscape was created with a granular synthesiser used in conjunction with a synthesiser (Moog DFAM?)

The 3rd movement of Elgar's cello concerto for me conjures the imagery of death and transcendence; of a person's soul leaving this world and floating up towards the blinding sun in a delirious catharsis. It's one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever played, and I wanted to bring that sense of a blissful fever-dream to this piece.

이 곡은 세종시문화관광재단이 주최한 한글복합문화 공간 ‘한글상점’에서 활용될 목적으로 제작되었습니다.

28가지 한글 자모의 창의적 조합처럼 전자음악 일렉트로니카, 앰비언트, 익스페리멘탈 장르에 한국 전통 악기를 더해 현대적으로 해석한 음악입니다.

‘슈퍼 히읗’은 한글의 조합 원리를 소리로 확장한 실험적인 사운드 프로젝트로 28마디마다 등장하는 11가지 한국 전통 악기(아쟁, 앙금, 장구, 편종, 대금, 견고, 단소, 퉁소, 방울, 가야금, 거문고)를 그래뉼라 신디사이저와 리샘플링을 통해 재해석하였습니다.

'수퍼 히읗' was composed for Hangeul Shop (한글상점), a cultural venue that is operated by the Sejong Culture and Tourism Foundation.

This track combines traditional Korean instruments with contemporary electronic styles, including electronica, ambient, and experimental music, as a result of the inventive combinations of the 28 Korean Hangeul characters.

It is an experimental sound production that reimagines the logic of Hangeul in audio format.
Every 28 bars, 11 different traditional instruments — including ajaeng, angum, janggu, pyeonjong, daegeum, gyeongo, danso, tungso, bells, gayageum, and geomungo — are transformed using granular synthesis and resampling, creating a soundscape where the familiar and the unfamiliar coexist.
