An Evening with the Underground Symphonic Orchestra is an unconventional symphony based on the work of Toby Fox from the soundtrack of Undertale, reimagined as an orchestral/progressive rock work from Undertale's mix of 16-bit-ish and MIDI sounds. Undertale is one of my favourite games of all time and has one of the most intelligently-written soundtracks that I know, so this is the least that I can do to pay tribute to a game that means so much to me. Fanontale is an AU that takes inspiration from Undertale fanon perceptions by using it to influence the roles the beloved characters take, as well as manifesting in-universe, affecting the characters and their stories.
This is not an Undertale AU about "What if Undertale fanon was good", but rather one that seeks to answer the question of "what if fanon perceptions had direct consequences for the lives these characters live?"

Mettaton takes Greater Dog’s role, although he's got a rather expanded role. He's a constant presence throughout the entirety of the Parfait Plains, as he battles with Flowey to be the winner of the Big Shot of the Week. 

Since losing nigh all of his audience to a stinky garbage man with absolutely no style, he's been forced to re-evaluate his style of performance, and perhaps even take a few pages out of his rival's book. And by "take a few pages", I mean "can I copy your homework" "yeah but change it a little so it isn't exactly the same". All that said, his high-strung nature means he isn't actually all that good at being laidback, and his humour tends to be far more sardonic than anything else, meaning he's slightly missed the mark on why people found Sans comforting in the first place, but details schmetails, amiright? Besides, isn't imitation the sincerest form of flattery? And don't find the full version of that quote.

With his new style, Mettaton MEGA is ready to take the world by storm! And, hey, the Absolute showing up doesn't hurt either. After all, the end of the world is great for ratings!

The Gauntlet of Deadly Terror has been entirely revamped into the Gauntlet of Padded Locks and Open Hearts. A bridge where people get to attach MTT-Brand Heart Chains, and write their initials on them, immortalising the memory of their relationship forever...

The Underground has been overcome by a dangerous prophecy, one that has spread like wildfire. The Absolute will come- and they will usher in a new era. Some think of them as the end of the world, the final nail in the coffin for monsterkind, and others idolise them to an absurd extent, heralding them as their new god. 

Watch Chara, the fallen a̶n̶g̶e̶l̶ human, have to fight their way out of these perceptions and distortions, and maybe uncover the truest version of themselves along the way.
