A swagger-fueled funk rock anthem built on punchy drums, strutting guitar, and brass-laced defiance. “You Gotta Tug” is a no-shortcuts sermon dressed in groove—equal parts grit and gospel. Every line hits like a call to action. No polish, just pressure. If you want it? Tug.

You Gotta Tug (Funk Rock)

        When I started what would become EVERIS, I wanted to make an upbeat electronic song; something with a prodigious drum beat and heavy bass forming the foundation of the song with a solid synth melody on top.  The bow section that predominates the latter sections of the song came about when I was trying to write a drum beat for the first section of the song.  Looking at the musical contour of drum beat’s notes, I thought that a traditional instrument would sound great playing that part.  After some tweaking, I had what is now the backbone of the much of the song.  Mr. Kniffen helped me with the bass notes for the melody of the bow score, and from there I was off to the races.  
	With this new bow score, I wanted a song that was easy to listen to, something that was next level chill, a song that you could fade out to.  I played around a lot with the bass chords by inverting the chords and messing with which notes of the chord I used to breathe life into the score.
        From there I started adding more and more instruments to the song like flutes and brass, which complemented the traditional sound of the bow section.  To make the song more modern sounding, I added my favorite synths--Gritty Funk and the Hit Machine.  I also added in two drum tracks, one that Mr. Kniffen played for me and one that I wrote with the Hit Machine.
