Yoga Nidra - Befriending Your Feelings - 40 min

Prāṇāyāma - Conscious Breathing Practice - 10min building up to Equal Breath Ratio - Sama vṛitti. In this practice, we build up to a ratio of 1.1.1.1 - Inhale - 4, Hold - 4, Exhale - 4, Hold - 4. 

As best you can, breathe in and out of your nose. Ideally start by laying down on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the ground or bed. Feel free to use a folded blanket or a pillow under the head and neck.

Sanskrit terms:
Prāṇāyāma - Conscious breathing practices. Prāṇā is 'the vital life force energy and āyāma is 'to extend or expand'. 
Sama vṛitti - Equal Breath Ratio
pūraka - Inhale 
AK or antaḥ kumbhaka - Hold after Inhale
recaka - Exhale 
BK or bāhya kumbhaka - Hold after Exhale

Yoga Nidrā - Guided Relaxation Practice - 25 min in bed or on your yoga mat with a folded blanket or pillow under the head and neck and bolster under the knees or knees bent.

Yoga Nidrā - Yogic sleep; sleep with a trace of awareness
Sankalpa - Resolve or resolution

Notes: Most people sleep without resolving their tensions. This is termed nidra. Nidra means sleep. But yoga nidra means sleep after letting go of burdens. It is of a blissful, higher quality altogether. Yoga Nidra - Swami Satyananda Saraswati

The sankalpa takes the form of a short mental statement which is impressed on the subconscious mind when it is receptive and sensitive to autosuggestion during yoga nidra. Yoga Nidra - Swami Satyananda Saraswati
