AkpaLa is the brand-new Organic House project of Pedro Mercado and Na Te: sexy, bohemian, hedonistic, oriental, ethnic, shamanic & spiritual sounds with a female touch – inspired by events such as Burning Man & Gardens of Babylon – is to be expected from them! 

Pedro Mercado is one of the most known Belgian DJ/Producers in the Progressive House and Melodic Techno scene, reaching regularly the Beatport Top 100 on many highly regarded international labels (Parquet, Tanzgemeinschaft, Particles, Proton, Bonzai, Dear Deer, Beatfreak, Manual...) which gets him gigs all over the world. He is also label manager of Chrom Recordings. During the pandemic and lockdowns he got more and more into Organic House and with this new “AkpaLa” monniker he wants to make a clear distinction from his usual and known Progressive & Melodic style.

Na Te is a multi-talented female artist: next to her DJ/Producer skills she is also making micro-macrame jewellery & channelled light-language artwork, and offering spiritual guidance under the name Blueyespiritlight.

In the past Pedro Mercado & Na Te released already several tracks & remixes together and 5 years ago they started a weekly radio show on Ibiza Global Radio. Nowadays they host monthly radioshows on Frisky Radio (Nomadland) & Proton Radio (Up-To-Deep). They are both also resident-DJs of the Planet Ibiza brand and performed already B2B in Belgium, Ibiza & Berlin.

After the success of last year’s multi-edition album release ‘F O R M A T’ via The Vinyl Factory, the critical acclaim of his ‘Science Fiction Dancehall Classics’ On-U Sound compilation and the ‘Metal Dance’ series for Strut, Trevor Jackson is back in 2016 with the long-awaited return of his much loved PLAYGROUP project.

“Inspired by the hedonistic early days of house, disco, post punk, electro and dub, these tracks reflect a unique moment in time”, explains Trevor. “The emergence of underground club culture in New York, London, Chicago, Paris and Northern Italy was driven by pioneering DJ’s playing a wildly diverse soundtrack to a passionate, dance driven and open minded audience. It was a sensory overload of chemicals, bass, smoke, sweat, sex and danger; a testament to the non-air conditioned, non-i-Phone infested and non- corporate clubbing days of yore.”

Targeted directly at the modern dance floor, many of the tracks were freshly re-edited and tweaked with the assistance of Sasha Crnobrnja from In Flagranti. Ed DMX lends a helping hand on one track, two feature the vocals of Mike Z from the seminal new wave band Crash Course In Science, and a young Kieran Hebden (AKA Four Tet) plays guitar on the final EP’s lead track.

Released as series of 9 limited edition vinyl-only EPs over a period of 9 weeks, the 30 tracks featured are a collection of reworked demos and unreleased recordings. Still sounding as relevant today as they did when initially created during the writing process of the debut PLAYGROUP album from 1997-2001. 
Packaged in a collection of 9 individual sleeves that, as a full set, combine to make a single image featuring a photo by legendary photographer Bill Bernstein, they’re as much a testament to Trevor Jackson’s visual ability as his musical one.

Chris Brid not only serves as one part of the electronic live act Brid & Snyder but also boasts a long-standing career as a solo DJ & Producer. Emerging from the vibrant electronic scene in Germany, he quickly rose to prominence as one of the leading figures at the Musikbunker Aachen, where he transformed his passion for music into a full-fledged profession. These days Chris finds himself constantly on the move, as his expertise as a DJ, live musician, booker, and networker keeps him in high demand nationwide and beyond. While he occasionally relishes a rare weekend of tranquility in Aachen, his schedule is typically packed with performances at clubs and festivals, where he captivates audiences with the remarkable diversity of his sets, ranging from straight beats to deep grooves to melodically intricate compositions. Renowned for his innate ability to gauge the pulse of his audience, Chris delivers an immersive auditory experience that leaves listeners in a state of euphoria. Since 2019, he has also been an integral part of the Katzensprung Festival team, lending his passion for electronic music to the realms of booking and artist management.
