let me tell you the tale of helrazor, the final boss battle of hellgarden. You face outwards from the inner walls of hell standing atop the ruined belltower of the town that saved you, the structure lodged into the hellside like a javelin. As the bell rings out throughout the hells, lightning crashes from the chromatic cloudscape overhead briefly illuminating every visible surface of hell, every inch of it writhing with fetid demons clamoring over one another to reach you. As you brace yourself for the demontides to crash upon you, there on the horizon you see the big guy himself, so large he towers above the rest like a planetary figure rather than a body that walks along the earth like you or I. He is stretching, cracking and uncracking untold segments of bone at a time, seeming to enjoy the prospect of meeting your blade. For this is the end of the journey, and your escape from hell was not unnoticed. To have left hell only to fight your way back again, why? More than the satisfaction of damning you to eternity, the devils lip twitches into a smile, eager to ask what he presumes to be a colleague on matters philosophical, a bitter cynical heart cannot resist, they must know why, even if they refuse to accept it. 'What of love on earth? and is it truly a flower that can bloom anywhere? even on the field of battle?
