absolutely on music kicks off the 2023 season with Hamburgers Melina and Jakob Seidensticker, who co-run the label We R The Aliens, an exclusive playground for the artists' preference of eclectic music neither bound to genres nor time and space and therefore is synonymously and predestined for the label. With own releases on labels like Housewax, Feuilleton or Minibar - just to mention an abstract of Jakob and Melina's discography - the both have managed to remain on top of their game and spread their artistry for years. In absolutely on music's first episode of the year the artists' speak about routines, their label, how they go involved with music, studio works and give us a sneak peak of the upcoming We R The Aliens release. The interview with Jakob is accompanied by a two hour-lasting B2B of the two as well as an hour full of House Music by Torture the Artist-head and host of the show Holger Breuer.

Compatible or suitable for today’s guest: Hamburg based Lenard Klein is a regular at PAL Club and its LGBTQ+ friendly event Kinky Sundays. Over the past two years though the artist from Ruhr area has played Cafe Soda in the Hanseatic city as well as several other events in or around his hometown. With a preference for House music Lenard seems to promote the vibes from the early 90s but certainly adds his own groove and the 2023 note to it in order to bring back a smile to people’s faces when on the floor.

A lousy day in Hamburg it was. But that was all going to change as soon as Sunny7am entered the studios at the Übel&Gefährlich for the last episode of Torture the Artist’s absolutely on music before the summer break. And as common for last things - it was time to reflect on the previous months and all the wonderful artists who had come to visit and play their music. However, there's a "but" - of course we did not have time for the before-mentioned because - excuse the shady word-play - the summer himself was there, PAL-mainstay, Hamburg’s House backbone and foremost a pretty decent DJ - Sunny or Sunny7am.

Rising Hamburg artist Murphy is a regular at most of the city’s nightlife institutions besides being the co-founder of Smaland. A little while back he’s made his debut as a producer and meanwhile has three tracks under his belt. In the latest episode of absolutely on music Marvin, Murphy’s real name, speaks with Torture the Artist-head Holger about his upcoming label, gives  some more insights on his artistic being, musical influences as well as the Smaland cosmos. Additionally, Murphy pleases us with an hour full of blissful deep and minimal music. The show ceases with sets from Lukas Urbaum and Holger Breuer.

Torture the Artist - your source for contemporary electronic music

Torture the Artist is a webzine, or a magazine made for the internet, geared towards those with a passion for contemporary electronic music, with subgenres including Techno, Tech House, Deep House and Eletronica, as well as a small amount of Indie and Alternative. Founded in 2014 by Holger Breuer, a German native and lover of the arts, Torture the Artist now consists of five team members from all around the world.

In addition to publishing interviews, music reviews, DJ charts and track premieres, the webzine hosts out a  podcast series called 'art:casts'. This medium gives DJs and producers the artistic freedom to highlight their different musical styles while not being restricted by factors such as setting, and connecting them to a wider audience. 

Being in its ninth year, Torture the Artist has gained a strong and active online support group, including music enthusiasts to label managers and artists themselves, creating a cohesive community with music as their bond.
