As some kind of "alternative program" to my last rather rough song and challenging clip now a colorful animated cartoon video: about a cute little hedgehog trying to find his/her/their way back home! 🦔

THE CLIP was animated/made with simple freeware tools: SHOTCUT and Pencil2D.

Has a slight Cuban or Brazilian touch to it. Hope nobody immediately pulls out the red "cultural appropriation" card.

Wanted to try out the really nice and new "Blueprint: Electric Keys" by Fracture Sounds (for Kontakt player), which "offers the chance to experience the detailed sampling of an original Fender Rhodes Mark 1" - for free!

Also tried out some (free or cheap) Soundpaint libraries, like the brand new "glass marimba". The trombone sounds a bit "synthetic", but kinda like it that way.

And there's lots of percussion in it.  And (once again) some delicate, hushed vocals by Holly Drummond.

So no groaning sub bass or fancy autotune here, sorry. Nope, not sorry... no need for that overused stuff here! :P

Tried out Hainbach's new toy "Lines"... but soon got bored with it (I'm not that much of a "sound tinkerer" I suppose). 

Also got annoyed by the constant noise and interferences of that apparatus, even when the track wasn't playing (seems to be a trademark of Hainbach plugins).

Whatever... what I really DID like were some sounds and loops I used to try out that weird thing. So I made this track out of them! :)

Once again added some beautiful, delicate vocals by Holly Drummond on top of it all. I think it's the third one now (after ANGELS IN THE SKY and TAKE ME HOME). So thanks @hollydrummond for those.

Don't Wanna Be In Love

No rock/metal this time, instead one of the most "laid back" songs I ever made... takes a bit to get (into) the "psychedelic vibe" each time you listen to it - until everything seems to slow down around you. ;)

Stumbled upon the good old free "ROLI player" and "ROLI studio drums" (not sure if anyone uses those). Tried out some presets and stuff, threw some samples in the pot. And ended up with this psychedelic, chill, lo-fi pop track. :)

Needed some soothing vocals and https://soundcloud.com/hollydrummond came to my mind, so used some of hers. Well, even re-used some words, one phrase I already had in one or two tracks.

Again not sure what genre. Wanted to try out "Alicia's Keys" by Native Instruments which was on sale lately. And the new "Jacob Collier Audience Choir" they still give away for free! :) And some other stuff...

INFO: Middle aged music maker (and recreational drummer) from the middle of Franconian nowhere arranging music for open minded music lovers who (like me) don't want to listen to the same (kind of) music all/every day - way too boring (or even annoying).

So you'll find all kinds of stuff here, from Space Jazz to Hip Hop, from Synthpop to Triphop, from Folk to Doom, from here to there, from then to now, and many things in between - except for "pure" EDM / Techno / Trance, not my cup of tea. :P 

Many tracks tend towards "alternative pop". Well, if you don't like a song/genre - just skip it! I won't mind...  ;)

P.S.: Before you ask: I (almost) never start with the vocals, asking myself: what strange things could I make with those?

Instead I start making strange music THEN look for some vocal parts that might fit. You'd be surprised how often you get a "match" the moment you throw those in the mix. Well, sometimes it needs a little tweaking... ;)
