A partial DJ set and partial live set put together for the launch of Houndstooth which was across two events, this Boiler Room and a Fabric event where I did a full live show with Ghettozoid (now S Ruston).

Playing for Boiler Room is an odd experience, as you have three crowds, the one in the room, the one watching at home and the probably the biggest and most important audience, the ones watching after the fact, streaming or downloading this free from the context the of the night.

Machine Woman (Anastasia) is a Russian-born artist and promoter known for pushing electronic music’s boundaries. Founder of TAJR and host of Sonic Disturbances on Subtle Radio, she also runs the Machine Sound Electronics Club, a free monthly producer meetup. With releases on Technicolour, WTN?, Peder Mannerfelt, and K7!, plus remixes for Houndstooth, Domino, Ninja Tune, DFA, Phantasy, and 2DIY4, her work has reached DC10, Berghain, and festivals from Mutek Canada to Dark MOFO. Recent highlights include sets at London’s Tate Modern and BICEP CURATES, cementing her place at the forefront of electronic experimentation.

And now, we're back after the summer. I spent most of July and August in Ireland, and the inspiration for this edition comes from my little country. We have music from Dublin with Poseidon84 and Industrial Lies. Another source of ideas, also from Ireland, is Blindboy's podcasts, and this month we explore references between house and techno. More techno from Bradley Strider, Death in Vegas, and Ryan James Ford. We have electro with Cultivated Electronics, To Pikap and Shipwrec, and breaks with DjRum and Withhold. Two hours of nonsensical anecdotes and lots of great music.

House of Black Lanterns is the latest artistic guise of Dylan Richards (formerly known as King Cannibal when working on Ninja Tune and Zilla on Warp Records).

Championed by the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, hand-picked by Björk to work on her recent ‘Biophilia’ project, selected by Liam Howlett to remix the Prodigy, invited to compile retrospectives of the Warp and Ninja Tune catalogues as Zilla and King Cannibal respectively and DJ Mag Best of British 'Best Mix CD' award nominee, Richards is no stranger to critical recognition when it comes to twisted, layered soundscapes.

House of Black Lanterns delivers a defined change in vision and style with the material already receiving widespread support. The debut album 'Kill The Lights' on Fabric's imprint 'Houndstooth' retains the earlier influence of DJ Krust’s sprawling drum & bass soundscapes, House of Black Lanterns sees Richards develop his sound to incorporate the dub-inflected techno textures of Rhythm & Sound whilst nodding to the catchy, yet bleak floorfillers of Trax, all inspired by the modern noir visual style of Michael Mann.

In between sets at both Berghain and Panorama Bar, The Roundhouse, Boileroom, Fabric and Melkweg, remixes have been traded with Breakage, Dave Clarke & Mr Jones's _Unsubscribe_ project, followed by a  EP on Hypercolour and a release for Doc Scott's 31 Records. His new conceptual album piece ‘You Were Telling Me of Mountains’ has just been released, backed up with a hefty run of more dancefloor orientated tracks across Creme's new Jericho One imprint, Darkroom Dubs and coming soon, EPM.
