MASS Sessions #358 | Cathédral
Hyperactive entrepreneur of the London techno scene, French producer Cathédral is here to stay with a growing number of promising projects under his belt. In 2018 he founded with Ømen the London party-turned-label MASS, bringing faster sounds and liberated raves to the capital. In 2020 he launched LABURNŪM Records, a home for emerging artists promoting fast grooves, cut on an exclusive dubplate format. He concentrates his sound on house-infused, old-school-informed grooves, looking back to the 90s and the 00s but all at breakneck speed towards the future.

The boys behind The Art Department, Steamy Love, Guilty Pleasures label (soon to come) and Revision Records.

Originating from Cape Town, Steam 03 is the result of a natural connection formed through a shared passion for music. Matt McKenzie and Nicholas Wessels, who came together in early 2021 at just 18 years old, found common ground despite coming from rival schools. What started as a mutual love for deep house and techno quickly evolved into a collaborative partnership built on constant growth and the desire to refine their craft.

As a duo, Matt and Nicholas complement each other’s strengths and balance each other’s weaknesses, creating a dynamic that drives their creative process forward. Over time, their collaboration has strengthened into an unbreakable bond, not just as partners in music but as close friends. Steam 03 is a testament to what they’ve developed both on and off the stage, where their shared vision continues to push the boundaries of their music.

In just a short time, Matt and Nicholas have garnered attention for their talent, landing performances across some of the country's most respected underground venues and festivals. They have gone on to support artists such as Dino Lenny, Catz n Dogz, Bloem, Zakes Bantwini and at just 20 years old, toured their home city supporting international heavyweight, Raxon. Their trajectory is only upward, with a stacked calendar of upcoming shows throughout the summer and a catalog of unreleased music that is set to redefine their place in the scene. 

While Steam 03 remains true to the underground ethos, their ability to bridge the gap between the past and present of deep house music has positioned them as key players in its future. Humble in demeanor but commanding in presence, the duo is steadily building a reputation for pushing boundaries and creating timeless dancefloor moments.

Neurolitik Distorsion est un DJ et producteur actif depuis plus de deux décennies dans la scène électronique underground. Passionné de vinyles et issu du mouvement Free Party, il commence à mixer en 2000 et fonde peu après le sound system Neurolitik Distorsion, qui deviendra également son nom de scène.

Organisateur de nombreux événements — Free party, soirées en club, festivals — il est aussi ingénieur du son, auteur-compositeur, et président de l’association Le Cercle Underground, engagée dans la diffusion de musiques électroniques alternatives.

Après toutes ces années, l’objectif reste inchangé : partager la musique avec passion, authenticité et liberté.
