In February 2022, Yuliia Trofimova was a journalist living in Eastern Ukraine, where she’s from. With the violent escalation of the conflict with Russia, Yuliia and her colleagues in local media became war correspondents overnight. Today, Yuliia works as a field communications officer for MSF, travelling throughout the region to raise awareness of the health impacts of the war and the work of MSF’s medical, surgical and mental health teams as they provide essential care to people caught in the conflict.

Bad Gods: Haiti is a ground-level memoir of duty under pressure. In January 2010, David Burnell landed in Port-au-Prince as Chief of Security for the Utah Hospital Task Force—120 doctors, nurses, and volunteers dropped into chaos. With a five-man security element and the help of the 82nd Airborne, he built perimeters out of trucks, moved clinics through hostile streets, and called hard exits when daylight died.

This is the work as it really happens: food drops that tilt toward riot, a bus “explosion” that became a drill, camp sickness that knocked healers off their feet, and the quiet routine of rules that save lives—never alone, hide real cash, break contact early, at dusk security calls it. Threaded through it all is the search for a kidnapped boy, Gardy Mardy, pushed into Haiti’s hills and alleys where law had broken.

Burnell keeps the language simple and the tone honest. There’s some dry humor (yes, a “Fixer” and a few Jack-Bauer-for-TV moments), but the center stays steady: protect people, get them home, and live with the choices. Faith shows up in a truck-bed sacrament and field blessings—not a sermon, just the spine he leaned on.

Yvette Cooper – Home Affairs Secretary: Our government’s decision to proscribe Palestine Action was prompted by a specific incident involving military aircraft.

4PR: Could you please be more specific?

Yvette Cooper: Certainly. On 20 June 2025, activists from Palestine Action broke into RAF Brize Norton, a major Royal Air Force base in Oxfordshire, and vandalised two Voyager tanker aircraft, used for air-to-air refuelling, by spraying red paint into their engines and using crowbars.

But, while access to medical care is absolutely essential, for our youngest patients, there is something else that improves their health, promotes recovery and helps them develop: play.

The unexpected power of play: Healing children in humanitarian crises

In this episode, we sat down with Bushra Khalidi, Oxfam’s Policy Lead in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Bushra reflects on her dual identities as a Palestinian and a humanitarian, and how this has shaped her approach to her work. She speaks to the critical role that humanitarian actors have played in not just providing physical aid, but also in highlighting the truth of abuses they are witnessing. Bushra also discusses how the the dehumanization and dispossession of Palestinians in Israel and in global media and policy spaces has fueled longstanding impunity for Israel's violations of international law. In this regard, she emphasizes the need for breaking paternalistic patterns and for meaningfully including Palestinians in decisions on their future.
