The colossal shadow is revealed to be a cosmic entity, an incarnation of antimatter, a devourer of space, hunting Pioneer for repeatedly breaking the time loop. Confused, Pioneer turns his gaze outward and what he sees petrifies him. Hundreds of versions of himself, lifeless and drifting in the vast void of antimatter, appear like ghosts. Their shuttles float aimlessly beside them, their bodies frozen by the cold of space. That's when Pioneer hears his own voice in his helmet, ordering him to retrieve a particle incubator from his shuttle and harvest the antimatter outside his ship. Following the voice, which seems to come from a hallucination, Pioneer feels a strange feeling. Was he doomed to end up like them? Driven by desperation, Pioneer exits his shuttle, entering the overwhelming energy of antimatter, which begins to consume him. With trembling hands, he opens the particle incubator and absorbs some of the antimatter it contains. But his body can't withstand the strain; it begins to collapse under the intensity of the force. In his final moments, he sees another version of himself, appearing in the distance, his shuttle materializing from within the antimatter. This version of him arrives and saves him just in time. Together, they make the decision to leave this obscure region, heading towards the next unknown destination.

Truesoul’s celebrates its 100th release with a masterful offering from Riva Starr’s new Hyperloop project.

Over the course of its 15-year lifespan, Truesoul has excelled at giving a platform to the groovier end of the techno spectrum, showcasing releases with everyone from Maetrik and Cirez D, to Hot Since 82, Reset Robot and of course label founder and A&R Adam Beyer. 

With his new techno orientated project Hyperloop, Riva Starr becomes the latest esteemed artist to join the label. The lead track ‘Resilience’ is crisp and punchy, and made immediately memorable by the ‘90s influenced house strings that run throughout. When Beyer dropped it during his recent daytime set at Sonus Festival, it was a stirring highlight. ‘Fallen Angel’ is centered around a sublime piano melody and is the kind of composition that was tailored made for a blissful morning set. Offering an effective contrast to the original, man-of-the-moment Tiger Stripes follows up his excellent ‘Body Trip’ EP with a powerful percussive rework of ‘Fallen Angel’, injecting his version with an Arabic-flavoured vocal.

After bursting onto the scene in late 2017, Hyperloop makes his Drumcode debut with Green Velvet in toe. 

Followers of Truesoul will be clued up on the quality one can expect from Hyperloop. Last October he marked the label’s 100th with ‘In The Loop’, a superb three-tracker that signalled his arrival on the scene and highlighted a stunning year for the label. As 2018 picks up pace, Hyperloop returns with a tougher follow up for Drumcode. 

His ‘Mentalizm’ EP is a classy example of his versatility, a trio of original works, accompanied by two DJ tools. Beginning on a menacing tip, ‘In Your Mind (Reflections)’ is a low-end brew of industrial stabs, eerie melodies and subterranean vocals. ‘S-Sound’ is his collaboration with Chicago legend Green Velvet and is a percussive masterstroke of loops and drum riffs which drive the eight-minute track with all the puffing ferocity of a steam train. ‘Spring on the Battlefield’ is the perfect contrasting accompaniment, as a warm rush of strings covers a bed of intricate analogue effects and stomping kicks.

Techno titans Pan-Pot are proud to present SUM 7, the latest compilation on their esteemed Berlin label Second State. It’s another quality release full of class and character, and as always, plenty of dancefloor ammunition.

“Parallax” is a case in point. British producer Jon Rundell teams up with Canadian producer Carlo Lio on this tickling groover that takes its time working towards an understated but deeply satisfying release. A versatile club weapon for techno and house dancefloors, “Parallax” sees both producers at the height of their powers. Up-and-coming Italian producer Endrew delivers an impressively mature slice of techno in “Cyclic Venture”, a lean, fidgety track that builds tension with restless windblown synths and tinny arpeggios. Glaswegian Gary Beck’s “Rapture” is a jacking body-mover propelled by cheeky guitar riffs and a winking vocal sample. Sexy and full-bodied, it’s guaranteed to get backs off walls.
London-based and Naples-indebted, Hyperloop and his track “A Journey” are built for big rooms. True to the producer’s name, its menacing synths are designed to induce a hypnotic state. A slow and stealthy build creates an undeniable energy. Together, Dutch producer JNO and Italy’s Giovanni Carozza don’t mess around. A peak-time bomb for getting the crowd worked into a frenzy, the insistent horn synths and thumping drums of “Crispy” mean serious business, especially in the furious final stretch. No standing, only dancing here. Germany’s Klaudia Gawlas, working with Argentinian DJ and producer Flug, who already released a track on Second State’s last compilation, turns in a moody, simmering techno track, “The Matrix”. Like the film, it’s both futuristic and strangely trippy, perfect for switching gears in the room.
Neapolitan producer Raffaele Rizzi brings in fresh rave energy that sounds at once old and new. The proggy synths on “Fluorescence” are indeed technicoloured and a frosty female vocal sample lends the production an alluring mystique. After she released a sharp tune on the SUM 6 earlier this year, on “Enough”, Risa Taniguchi creates a chilling mood with repeated vox and a squelchy synth, combining to create a sense of foreboding. Second State mainstay Rocko Garoni turns the vibe a little weird, in a good way, on “Sane”. It’s a mind-melting combination of synths and textures that blossoms into unexpected directions mid-track. One for the afters.
Venetian Sara Simonit lends a certain northern cool to “13 Guns”, and brings a lively, energizing techno track with a delicious build and housey groove to this compilation. Veteran Dutch producer Secret Cinema still has it: the ability to create a mood that keeps the crowd on their toes, but always dancing. Closing the compilation, the shuffling beat of “Creaking” would work as well in a club as at a forest rave; we’d expect nothing less from this master.

In sum, this is another thrilling compilation from the ever-reliable Second State, showcasing industry veterans alongside exciting new talents. The dynamic range of sounds and styles within makes SUM 7 essential for techno DJs and techno fans alike.

LEN0X is a Toronto-based DJ and  producer that is best known for her dark, melodic productions, and dark, groovy sets. 

Primarily a clubber at heart, she was incredibly inspired by the underground scene in Europe during her time living in Denmark, and took home a musical vision.

After releasing her latest track, Edgewater, on PANIK, she began a creative restructuring and developed her beloved project, The Afters. 

The Afters was created initially as a mix series, but quickly turned into a key element of her brand. Its goal: eliminate the boundaries created by genres that ultimately pigeon-hole artists in this industry. After all, there should be no rules in art.

With that, LEN0X has supported some of the biggest artists in the world across various genres including Cassian, TRYM, Sam Paganini, Charles D, Saad Ayub, Alex Stein, Mario Ochoa, D-Unity, The Yellowheads, etc.

In 2023, you can expect LEN0X to remain genre-fluid with Hard Techno, Melodic House & Techno and Raw Hypnotic Techno releases.
