THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG: One day in May of 1971, I was visiting the dentist.  I picked up a “Highlights for Children” magazine and read a very interesting poem a 7-year-old boy had written that he titled “Did You Ever?”  I had some music already written and these words fit perfectly.  But there wasn’t enough words there to complete the song.  With the help of my friend Bill McGowan, we filled in the gaps.  A few weeks later this song was complete.
