For over thirty years, bestselling author, screenwriter, and New Yorker cover artist Adrian Tomine’s work has set the standard for contemporary storytelling. He has published several books of comics and illustrations, including “Killing and Dying,” “Shortcomings,” and his new book “Q & A.”

Maria Badshamiah is a glass artist with a passion for transforming raw materials into stunning, meaningful creations. Specialising in kiln-formed glass, her work blends craftsmanship with storytelling, bringing emotion and depth to each piece. Her handblown vases were featured in The World of Interiors magazine in 2017, and her industrial-themed designs won the East Midlands' Regional Heritage Award for Nottingham Industrial Museum the same year.

With a BA (Hons) in Decorative Arts from Nottingham Trent University, Maria has spent years refining her technique—experimenting with copper, embroidery, and screen printing before fully embracing glass art. She has exhibited at the British Craft Trade Fair and Parallax Art Fair, and her glass pieces are held in private collections worldwide.

Maria’s work isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about connection. From Seascape Beauty, an acrylic piece paired with her own poetry, to her latest inspirations drawn from the poetry of the Louis MacNeice Society, she crafts art that tells a story. A proud neurodiverse creative, she also mentors and tutors, using art as a way to inspire others.

With hands-on experience at London Glass Blowing and the British Glass Biennale, Maria brings a depth of knowledge and skill to her craft. Whether designing bespoke commissions or pushing the boundaries of kiln-formed glass, she continues to shape light, texture, and emotion through her work.

The Product Designer Series with Diana Ingles

This has been a long time coming. New habits, new obstacles. I tried shooting with two cameras and it was pretty much an epic fail. Not so much in the shooting, although that could have been better but mainly in the editing.

I should have done a lot of things differently. SHOULD, SHOULD, SHOULD.

So instead I will share what I learned. I need to ask myself what is most important: keeping to a schedule or trying something new. I guess here we saw the fail of keeping to a schedule.

This means when I am trying something new I need to practice on a short something instead of content with three hours. YIKES.

Ok lesson learned.
