Impression is a DJ and producer currently residing in Saint Augustine, Florida. In the last few years, since the pandemic, he has truly found his sound within the realm of smooth, vibey, rhythmic Drum & Bass. He recently has released tunes on several prominent labels such as Fokuz, Celsius, FX909 Music, Soul Deep, Headsbass, Influenza Media, Soul Trader, Liquid Drops, Theoryon Records and Rolled Up Records. On top of that he has recently contributed music to the charity Liquid Drum & Bass 4 Autism presents: 'USA vs. U.K. A friendly Exhibition', 

Growing up in South Florida in the peak of the rave wave of the 90's he found himself inspired by this movement and became co-founder of the Y.O.U. crew. He established several residencies over the years and shared the stage with the biggest and greatest names in Drum & Bass. In 2008 he partnered and launched the label 'Urban Chemistry' under the name 'Fusion' and released tracks with DnB greats like Stunna, Submorphics, Command Strange and Mutt just to name a few.

Around this time Impression also started a weekly show on Bassdrive.com called 'Lab Sessions' which has been running deep for almost 17 years. With roots in the culture that span from Florida to all parts of the globe he has truly curated his sound and much like his production, his DJ sets and mixes are sure to deliver deep soulful vibes with funky progression and smooth, intricate blends. A crowd pleaser every time.

Welcome to my musical time capsule! I simply enjoy making music. No professional gigs or anything. Just writing and recording. I really enjoy recording because one day when I pass on, I'd love to have these recordings as a piece of history left behind for my family to listen back on. How cool would it be to have song recordings from our ancestors too?!

I'm a self-taught, Canadian-raised, yet strangely enough, Alabamian-born ("hick" of an artist) with a passion for musical and lyrical writing, and here's a shameful yet interesting admission: I don't like to read music (must be the Alabamian in me! *hyuk*😉) I prefer to play by ear and inspiration and I always add my own take in a song whenever I cover one. I usually compose on piano and guitar but also play flute and ocarina. Really, I aspire to learn as many different instruments as I possibly can - everything from the didgeridoo to the world's tiniest violin, haha.  Here's another admission: I am a night-hawk and produce some of my best work in the mysteriously quiet hours of the night. What would the world be like without music? That we shall never know, nor would I wish to know! 


Istota is a producer and DJ navigating the deeper dimensions of techno. Based in Poznań, he has been active in electronic music since 2011, initially emerging from the world of drum & bass before evolving toward a more minimalist and introspective sound. His productions are deliberately abstract—free from imposed narratives—leaving space for listeners to shape their own mental and emotional journeys through sound.

His work has been released by labels such as Rawganics, Diffuse Reality, Vykhod Sily Recordings, Mindtrick Records, Ronin Ordinance, Literature Recordings, Singularity Audio, Flower Records, Hangout Music, and on a compilation by the Polish club Schron. With a discography that spans both club-driven and experimental works, Istota continuously balances functionality with depth.

In 2025, he launched his own imprint IST, conceived as an annual archive of his creative output. Each release is a full-length compilation collecting all of his tracks produced in a given year. The first release, PRE 2025, was issued in early 2025, with 2025 set for release in January 2026.

From 2017 to 2020, Istota ran the independent label Black Crane, promoting experimental electronic and bass music. He also played a key role in the Gamma Festival—a DIY electronic music event held in Gniezno between 2014 and 2018. Currently, he is involved in the Dungeon Beats project, focusing on organizational and technical aspects behind the scenes while maintaining a strong artistic identity rooted in techno.

As a DJ, Istota delivers hypnotic and restrained sets that revolve around rhythm, atmosphere, and slow evolution. Whether in a club or a solitary setting, his sound invites deep listening and an altered sense of time—an introspective approach to dance music shaped by patience and nuance.
