Oriental Whispers

UMN (March of the Penguins) is Arthur King's improvised composition and performance inspired by Luc Jacquet’s “March of the Penguins,” recorded live at AKP Recordings on November 9, 2022. The musical ensemble that evening was David Ralicke (horns, electronics), Koool G Murder (double bass), Laura Escudé (violin), Mia Doi Todd (drums/vocals), and Peter Walker (guitar/electronics). The film selector for the event was Sam Johnson, and the resulting performance was mixed to immersive digital formats and quadraphonic cassette by Peter Walker and KamranV.

UMN (Unknown Movie Night) is a recurring series of live, improvised film-scoring events where the selected film is unknown to both audience and band until it begins. Discerning film selectors and a rotating cast of guest musicians join Arthur King in making each event unique, taking participants on a journey into the unknown.

Until January 2019 New Instant Composers Syndicate (formerly known as The Midi Syndicate) consisted of :

John Berrevoets : Midi drums, Midi vibes, percussion, any musical instrument desired
Edwin Bouman : bass guitar, Midi modules, any musical instrument desired
Rene Kos : EWI electrical wind instrument, WX windcontroller, synthesizers, any musical instrument desired
Robbert Becker : Fender Rhodes, Hammond B3, keyboards, Midi modules, any musical instrument desired
Fred Tabois (aka Fredheadset) : sound engineer, samples, plunderphonics, sound treatments, electronics, any sound desired

Each "rehearsal session" consists of a get-together of the members, without any musical plans whatsoever, 1 minute of silence and then, either, Heaven or Hell breaks loose for a minimum of 50 minutes

John Chantler is a musician and organiser living in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2019 he started building a system for performance consisting of multiple battery powered synthesizer/speaker things that can be variably suspended, swung, spun and set in locations without depending on the typical concert/club infrastructure and classical modes of performer/audience interaction. Chantler is currently an artist of the SHAPE+ platform for innovative music and audiovisual art, co-funded by the EU.

 John Chantler shares some of his own recent work alongside a wide-ranging scan of Edition Festival festival archives with short excerpts from longer performances from each annual edition. The programme also includes releases from Fönstret, the label set up by the festival to formally surface material from the archives and promote local artists such as Lisa Ullén and Isak Hedtjärn. Chantler is currently an artist of the SHAPE+ platform for innovative music and audiovisual art, co-funded by the EU.

در این اثر، آنچه از دستم برآمده، نزدیک‌ترین و خاص‌ترین تصویر از فقدان و از دست دادن عزیزترینی است که به شکل صوتی جان گرفته. لحظه‌ای که زندگی ناگهان در درخششی از ثانیه‌ها، پرده‌ای دیگر از بعد زمان را به نمایش می‌گذارد و ثانیه‌شمار قلبم با صدای بلند خود را فریاد می‌زند. اشک‌هایی که بند ندارند، اما خفه می‌کنند؛ خاطراتی که نه تصویری دارند، نه صدایی، اما ریشه‌های عمیق در دل و جان باقی می‌گذارند. در قلب سرزمین بی‌زمان، جایی که زمان و مکان همچون خاطرات در هم تنیده‌اند.

این قطعه، بداهه‌نوازی عودی است که در خلوتی شخصی شکل گرفت؛ شبیه به نامه‌ای بی‌کلام، که گفته نشد اما در صدا جاری شد. موسیقی‌اش ساده و صادقانه است و حس درونی را بی‌واسطه منتقل می‌کند.
این ترک به یاد دوستی ضبط شده که حضورش همیشه در سکوت حس می‌شد.

This piece is an improvised oud solo, shaped in a quiet personal moment — like a letter left unsent, expressed through sound. Its music is simple and honest, carrying a feeling without words.
It was recorded in memory of a friend whose presence was always felt in silence.

By a quiet stream in the nature of Pai, Northern Thailand, I sat with my Rav Vast and dove inward.
“In & Out” is a live handpan journey, recorded in one take — wrapped in the wild soundscape of the jungle: flowing water, winds, birds, and a steady inner pulse.

Most of the time, my eyes were closed — no plan, just breath, presence, and surrender.
Through the music, I try to create a space to pause, to breathe, to reconnect, and to remember the light within.

I hope this moment brings you calm, softness, and a place to land — just as I needed when I played.

Nasi Chavchavadze y Alexander Khokhiashvili, como NASI & ALEXANDER**, son un dúo georgiano especializado en música electrónica-acústica experimental. Nasi es músico, violonchelista, percusionista, compositor y DJ, y disfruta explorando los límites del sonido y la interpretación. Alexander, también músico, baterista, compositor y DJ, comparte su pasión por la exploración sonora experimental.

Juntos, forman parte del proyecto de música electroacústica experimental Metastasis”, que ha tenido un impacto notable en la escena de la música electrónica de Georgia. En 2023, “Metastasis” se presentó en lugares destacados como Bassiani/Zenaariy TKESHI, ganando reconocimiento por sus dinámicos shows en vivo.

Más allá de este proyecto, Nasi y Alexander participan activamente en otras iniciativas musicales, incluyendo la popular banda alternativa MokuMoku que fusiona hip-hop, jazz, funk, soul y rock. Su enfoque colaborativo y versátil los convierte en un dúo único y emocionante para cualquier festival.

Over the past few years since becoming part of the SoundCloud Family, my 'Joy in and Passion for' Creative Musical Expression has increased exponentially as has my appreciation of all the wonderfully passionate Musicians and Creatives worldwide who have devoted themselves to Letting It Take Form! 

Here's a bit of a bio, if anyone is interested.  

Somehow, my MUSE got my attention at a tender age. About the time I was completing my Royal Conservatory training. 

My memory being poorer than most, I began improvising in the passages I had forgotten. And while the audience seemed unaware, my teacher chastised me indulgently, saying, "it appears I have a budding composer on my hands"!  And thus began my Odyssey into the wonderful Vibrational world of Sound!:-) In-deed, I have been an ardent, attentive and appreciative acolyte of my Muse ever since. 

During the early 1970s I had the pleasure and honour of a three year friendship and Master Class with the then Octogenarian Composer Manoah Leide-Tedesco , one of Tone Poem giant Richard Strauss` favorite pupils and friend of Maurice Ravel and other 20th century composers such as Stravinsky (whose music he helped popularize). Since then, whether Improvising, listening, studying composition or devoting myself wholly to the visual arts for years at a time, I have been deeply aware that sharing my musical insights , teaching, and or mentoring young aficionados came with the territory!   I love it, although I am afraid that as my consciousness expands...that I know less and less each year! :-)  

The Tonal Oasis called SoundCloud is a fine and wondrous place in oh so many ways.  And with your support and appreciation, I de-Light to share my music with an ever widening audience. I call what i upload ' Sound-Seeds'.  Most of these 'bed tracks' call out to be fleshed out by passionate soloists who somehow Resonate with my Soundz and Ideas.  So please drop me a line, as i am most interested in letting them bear more fruit through collaboration, interpretation, re-mixing or use in other media.
