make me numb, seriously

Cacti, tritones, gonzo music performances, indigestion, ambition>talent, friends and loathing, abundance of arguably useless serial killer knowledge, advice to not take, music, regret and myself... I want so say...Jeff?...No! Wait, Ruben.. yes..Ruben Rotar

Little about me...I love, play, and write strange music. Music appropriately suiting a personality that falls somewhere between problematically eccentric and psychotically bohemian.

However, by no means was it all thunderstorms and rain clouds. Growing older, just hearing something that I found unique, humorous, made me smile, want to dance, destroy a room or maybe a face etc, gave me an unparalleled amount of joy. A journey into a lifelong love for music and it's creation was in full swing and remains still traveling on to this very moment with a coffee stained, upside down map.

A few of my personal musical influences to date; The Velvet Underground, Daniel Johnston, Radiohead, Sublime, Son House, Amy Winehouse, Robert Johnston, Bob Dylan, Donovan, The Doors, Alexisonfire, Pink Floyd, The Zombies, Listener, The Beatles, Skip James and B.B. King... to name as few as possible.

My musical education was mostly independent, besides a few years of piano lessons, middle and high school music class and my time in university, studying music therapy (specializing in addiction/at risk youth). I'm somewhat of a multi-instrumentalists with my primary being, until recently, trumpet. Seemingly out of nowhere, trumpet became my secondary, with piano out of all hammers and thing, became the placeholder with a vengeance. Guitar, banjo, strum-stick, omnichord, cornet, jaw-harp, flugelhorn, pipe-organ, melodica, thumb-piano, mandolin, (pretend) vocalist and attempting the violin, have all made appearances along my musical journey and can be played with varying degrees of success...
