Written in March of 2021, this was my raw emotional response to the shooting of the Kings Soopers on Table Mesa in Boulder. Although I did not know any of those who were killed, having this community that I have been a part of be so senselessly attacked brought feelings of grief that I couldn’t express anyway except through music. My deepest sympathies to the families of the slain. I can’t imagine your pain.

The world will turn and we continue to grow, don't know where to go, but no matter what, we know how to go. Catching every show,  I couldn't just say no. Ask how I got here, but really, I don't know. 

"Duck, duck, goose," hang you by your words like a noose. You could hang me too, but that's not what I would choose. Kill me and you would still lose. 
Prepared to burn the world if there is something to prove. Let the music run through your ears and flow into your groove.

Fuck, I count on me, adaptability found in humanity  already undeniably a gift found inside of me. 
Don't know where to go, they've all let me go. To go into my flow doesn't take any blow, you've arrived for a show, so that's how I go. To get high, first you've gotta feel low.

I'm a waking Hell, not that you could tell. Chaos ensues as I light the fuse, I'm feeling so good, as if no one ever could. When I show, I take my feed. Let me take the lead, before I take my leave and I let you grieve. Here's a trick from my sleeve. 

Get every snake, before morning wake. Remember that tremebely shake. Inside of this mind I think you will find, something to take for a dime. I don't have the time, I don't do the crime, all I can do is give you a rhyme.

Sitting in a blanket, thinking I can make it. Could I really find it? Would I really mind it? Now that I have it, could you let me share it? The weight of the world, it's too much to bare it. Give me the wheel, I know how to handle it. 

Sitting near a Bong, thinking," How long?" Could I be so wrong? You can come along, hiding our feelings in beer pong. 
When I found that you died, to the bullet suicide. Now that you're gone, can't sit by my side. "Could've gone for a ride," that's  the hardest that I've cried. If I could've seen you, then I would've tried, but you couldn't wait, so I didn't abide. 


No one understands, I've got all of these demands. It feels like I'm holding the world with my only two hands. All minds have a tendency to crashing, wake me when my mind lands. Come along, let me show you the bands that stopped me from crying in my hands. Became apart of the very proud fans.

Drifting on a Memory

This track was written in the space of an hour on 15th May 2023 upon hearing of the sudden death of my friend's puppy. Bracken had run out of their field into the path of a delivery van who did not stop but drove on. It was a heartbreaking time for all who knew not only the family but the beautiful cocker spaniel whose life had been lost so unexpectedly. This piece for string orchestra, I think, portrays that hurt and sadness - but finishes with a little bit of hope for the future (which we all need from time to time).

I have been a professional musician for the best part of a quarter of a century, now, but not really had the time to focus on promoting my own music. I've taught piano and flute, conducted choirs and worked as a church musician... always composing and arranging. My original music is always melody driven with a solid harmonic base, which makes it easy to listen to and, hopefully, appeals! I tend to find foundation in the piano though, being as flautist, I have a good ear for melody. I use Finale for score writing and Cubase as my DAW.
