Atas berkat rahmat Tuhan, akhirnya lagu ini dapat dirilis di platform digital ini. Lagu ini merupakan bagian dari perjalanan saya dengan seorang sahabat saya bernama Ilyas.

Saat itu (2020) saya dan Ilyas dengan berbekal gitar, duduk di ruang tamu rumahnya sembari mengotak-atik nada untuk tulisan sederhana Ilyas. Tulisan tersebut mengejutkan bagi saya, karena sepengetahuan saya, Ilyas adalah orang yang 'serba datar/flat' dalam hal apapun. Utamanya tentang perasaan. Nyatanya tidak sepenuhnya benar. Ada perasaan khusus yang ternyata memantiknya untuk menulis.

Lirik pada lagu ini diangkat dari kisah nyata seorang Ilyas yang dilanda patah hati karena ditinggal kekasihnya pergi. Memang sebuah kisah klasik. Namun menariknya disini, Ilyas patah hati karena hal tersebut baru pertama kali dia alami. Dan lirik ini lahir sebagai wujud keberaniannya mengungkapkan perasaan tersebut dengan apa adanya.

Tugas berat bagi kami untuk menilik balik gambaran perasaan Ilyas pada saat itu dan menjadikannya sebuah komposisi lagu yang estetis. Dan Alhamdulillah. Puji Tuhan, kami dapat menuntaskannya.

This show is dedicated to the films of my favorite Hong Kong filmmaker, Wong Kar-Wai.

While his films are widely known for their vivid cinematography and nuanced exploration of human relationships, they are also characterised by the thoughtful use of music. The soundtracks play an integral role in the storytelling, setting the mood and rhythm of the narrative and evoking feelings of nostalgia, longing, and melancholy.

I played a selection of music from and inspired by Wong Kar-Wai's films, including "In the Mood for Love", "Chungking Express", "Fallen Angels", and "Happy Together". You'll hear a variety of international and Cantonese songs, as well as original scores, ranging from atmospheric instrumentals to upbeat pop tracks.

Recorded live on May 13th 2023 at @refugeworldwide in Berlin.
