I've got a pair of legs
a set of teeth
a conscience somewhere underneath
a pair of hands
a current account
and nothing concrete figured out
i go to work
i don't know why
i go back home
try to balance the slivers of time
to re-settle my mind
i get involved
with all my heart
but fear and doubts push me back to the start

i wish it could all just be pleasant and simple
this human existence thing
just isn't for me
i wish i could be free
i wish i was a bee
i wish i wasn't me
cause if i could be any other creature i would be a bee

no rent or bills
and free to roam
the natural world i'd call my home
saving habitats and plants worldwide
confectionary on the side
my only boss
would be the queen
but unlike our monarch
she'd serve a purpose
in the hive there's no patriarchy
i could fly where i want with a flap and a buzz
no need for cars or all that fuss

i'd never be lonely or stressed about money
no landlord would come for me
no selfish casual greed
or cold hostility
i wish i was a bee 
(no need for work to consume my soul)
i wish i wasn't me
(no need for passports or border control)
cause if i could be any other creature i would be a bee

i'd belong to a species disappearing en masse
under threat of predators and colony collapse
from pesticides or a sting induced death
or just naturally expiring after one month of breath
i may have envisioned the lifestyle of insects
for the purposes of this song inaccurately
but in light of what i see
i still wish i was a bee
i still wish i wasn't me
