Dans le cadre de l'exposition Panorama 27 - Simultanéité au Fresnoy - Studio national du 19 septembre 2025 au 4 janvier 2026, nous vous invitons à écouter les artistes exposé·es vous présenter leurs œuvres.

Sur une estrade, un casque de réalité virtuelle entouré de quatre enceintes. En face, des dessins au crayon de couleur de dimensions variables sont accrochés sur trois murs (intérieurs domestiques et personnages). Une atmosphère sonore évoque une vie familiale, malgré son apparente abstraction. Grâce aux dessins et à cette écoute, le public peut déjà se raconter sa propre histoire.
Si nous expérimentons la réalité virtuelle, nous découvrons une nouvelle clef : embarqués dans une maison, nous la traversons, tel un « passe-muraille ». La bande sonore associée au film grâce à des écouteurs à conduction osseuse, se superpose sur l'écoute collective des enceintes. Sans pour autant basculer, nous ressentons la présence de tensions et d’étrangetés : les scènes de ce parcours sont banales mais les personnages semblent ensemble sans être ensemble.
L'installation "Derrière chez moi" performe mon sentiment selon lequel « ce passé est présent pour toujours » et convoque une réflexion sur les politiques de la mémoire, quand elles s'inscrivent dans des rapports de pouvoir.

Deux personnages sont assis face à face.
Entre les deux, une table basse, une statue de ciment au centre. Sur la table à côté de la statue, deux tasses de café chaudes.
« Je l'ai touché à la tête », dit-il après un long silence. La femme se déplaça sur sa chaise. Il se frotta les mains, essayant de cacher un sourire timide… « La première fois que tu tires et que tu touches quelqu'un, ce n'est pas très agréable… »
Dans les rêves, quand on ne dort pas la nuit est une installation vidéo à trois écrans qui utilise divers outils cinématographiques, ainsi que des archives, pour reconstituer et débattre des extraits de témoignages écrits par des snipers de l'armée israélienne au début des années 2000.
Pendant mon service militaire obligatoire dans l'unité des porte-paroles de l'armée israélienne, je suis tombée sur un article intitulé « Les snipers de l'intifada al-Aqsa ; massacrer, humanité et expérience ». J'avais reçu pour instruction de lire l'article et de marquer les parties « problématiques ». En raison de son contenu dérangeant, l'article n'a finalement pas été transmis au journaliste.
Aujourd'hui, je suis hantée par le contenu de cet article, et je réfléchis à la façon dont, à un moment de ma vie, j'ai contribué à le faire taire. Par le biais de la recréation et des réflexions critiques inspirées par le terme « banalité du mal » d'Hannah Arendt, l'œuvre tente d'explorer les limites de la moralité et de la responsabilité collective telles qu'elles émergent des témoignages des snipers.

"Le Jardin des mutations" réunit l’antique art de la divination et l’intelligence artificielle pour faire surgir un monde parallèle, en miroir d’un jardin réel. Ce dialogue entre oracles et calculs puise sa source dans l’histoire : en 1701, le philosophe et mathématicien Leibniz découvre dans le Yi Jing, ouvrage oraculaire plurimillénaire chinois, un système binaire composé de 64 combinaisons de lignes pleines et brisées. De là naît le code binaire moderne, socle de toute informatique.

Inspiré par cette étrange filiation, Le Jardin des mutations transforme des données météorologiques – température, hygrométrie, vent – en autant de lancers de dés, générant en permanence de nouvelles métamorphoses inspirées par le Yi Jing. Comme dans des mondes imbriqués, le jardin virtuel évolue en écho au jardin réel. Les changements dans notre monde font apparaître, muter, se dérégler, un paysage virtuel en constante reconfiguration. Le monde connu dévie lentement vers des territoires fantasmagoriques.

"Le Jardin des mutations" incarne un pont entre le monde physique et le monde numérique, entre passé lointain et futur spéculatif. C’est un espace de porosité où les frontières entre la réalité matérielle et les mondes de l’esprit se troublent, invitant à contempler un ailleurs mouvant, où le connu se dissout dans l’inconnu.

Sostener el Sol (2025) - Ángel de la Hera [installation]

L'installation LA FORÊT / DER WALD présentée sur la Place du Chateau de Strasbourg, au pied de la cathédrale, a eu lieu tout l'été 2025 et sera reconduite en 2026. Au coeur de cette scénographie urbaine, une ambiance sonore immersive est diffusée du matin au soir sur un ensemble de douze colonnes son. Cette séquence musicale en est extraite.

The Soundscape
A single visual representation of the location – the call of a wren – is captured as a sonogram and transferred to glass. The accompanying soundscape, uses the same location and source – the bird call representing transience in a place that is rooted in geological time, reflecting changes to the Anthropocene.  

Frozen in time, the wren sonogram allows us to explore the sound ‘out of time’, whilst the soundscape distorts our sense of time as it unfolds. Making use of sounds that may have been present in the quarry throughout history, we hear echoes of the past entwining human and naturally occurring phenomena. 

The Sculpture
Early Morning Wren combines textures cast from Tout Quarry rocks with an image derived from a recording at dawn in the quarry. The sound is rendered as a spectrogram etched inside the glass, reflecting the ancient permanence of the rocks and the fleeting nature of lives lived there. The work is a collaboration with sound artist Rob Godman, with whom the recording was made.

Another snippet from Caligo Paean - beware of gifts when chasing gods : ) 

Caligo Paean is a 1 hour long sound piece installed on river front property in the town of Franklin, Tasmania as part of the exhibition "When The Fog Clears". It formed part of the Ten Days on The Island Festival March 2025.
The work was installed in several locations across the property including a stack of subs under an old bus, in the main exhibition space and in an abandoned shed some 40 metres from the main area . The speakers were 'tuned' quite differently depending on their location and the sound was not delay corrected with the result of each mini-installation merging with each other in odd sonic ways - kind of calling the listener from one spot to another. The the work features field recordings, percussion, piano, bass guitar and Intonarumori as well as this special one off choir : )

Caligo is the Ancient goddess of Chaos. Born of the fog she controls the darkness, dwells in the void and is as old as the primordial matter that created the universe. This work is a tribute to the goddess as she continues to influence our lives and, in the case of this installation, the site and concept informing the show.

Every day, the mists of the Huon Valley perform a seductive dance, gently obscuring and revealing contours of the fertile land and waters. Situated in The Watershed Franklin, When The Fog Clears features six artists from lutruwita / Tasmania exploring the region’s iconic mists through a variety of mediums including installation, sculpture, illustration, sound, and video.

Developed exclusively for Franklin, this exhibit extends from the waterfront itself into the chambers, kilns, and rafters of the shed, inviting visitors to consider fog as an atmosphere that can cloak us in unexpected ways.

"A Fragile Chorus of Voices", 2019, one-channel sound installation.

"A Fragile Chorus of Voices" comprises a series of intimate and anonym audio recordings of people singing a cappella. The singings were recorded in Amman and were sourced from individuals belonging to the various communities composing the city.

Brought together, the singings speak about the diversity of the human fabric of Amman but also echo the complexities of the Middle East and the Levant. In their beauty, their fragility, their hopefulness, or their intrinsic melancholy transpires a reflection of the region’s past and present.

The recordings were presented as raw elements of a sound intervention set in the public stairs located between the two sides of the Darat al Funun.

"A Fragile Chorus of Voices" was made possible with the support of the Berlin Senate Department for Culture and Europe and of Darat al Funun.

Ángel de la Hera (Spain, 2002) is a composer and sound artist. His works have premiered at festivals such as the 20th and 21st Festival of Spanish Music of Cádiz, Mixtur Festival 2023, Zagreb Music Biennale 2025, and RESIS Festival 2025, among others. His compositions have been performed at venues including the Teatro de la Zarzuela, the National Auditorium of Spain, the Gran Teatro Falla in Cádiz, the Real Teatro de Retiro, and the Galicia Auditorium, among others.

Vincent Chomaz is an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and curator interested in associative and informal forms of knowledge production and dissemination. Spanning site-specific sound installations and interventions, listening workshops, as well as participatory and collaborative research formats, his work focuses on listening as a social, political, and aesthetic practice – an associative and empathetic tool to investigate collective dynamics as a network of subjective narratives, fictions, and memories.

Chomaz has presented his work internationally at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (India, 2020, online), The Lab at Darat al Funun (Amman, 2019), Culture Space Yang (Jeju City, South Korea, 2019), ZK/U Center for Arts and Urbanistics (Berlin, 2019 & 2015), Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek (Copenhagen, 2018, curated by Travers), MMAG Foundation (Amman, 2018), Grace (Athens, 2018, curated by In Art We Trust), RAW Material Company (Dakar, 2018), Beijing One Arts Festival (Beijing, 2016), Errant Bodies (Berlin, 2015), Infecting the City 2015 (Cape Town, 2015), The Stage (Kuala Lumpur, 2015), or Describing Architecture 2014 (Dublin, 2014) among others.
