NewOldSchool is a fresh instrumental genre that builds on the mellow vibes of lo-fi but injects a bit more energy into the mix. While lo-fi is often characterized by its soft, understated percussion and warm textures, NewOldSchool turns up the intensity with louder drums, crisp claps/snaps, and an unmistakable groove. The basslines lean toward funky sub-bass, giving the sound a deeper, punchier foundation while still retaining the nostalgic, chill aesthetic that lo-fi is known for.
This genre could work well for both relaxed listening and upbeat creative sessions, offering a balance between laid-back and head-nodding rhythms. The contrast between vintage elements and modern production gives it an unmistakable personality—hence the name, NewOldSchool.
