This is my vision for successful integration of Islam in the UK. We gotta have some big talks about where Islam is at odds / completely different from the western values and we need to all decide what to do moving forward. basically the UK has values that need respecting and if the muslims want to change that such as the age of consent to be much lower like seen in Sharia law everyone in the UK needs to be aware of the values of the followers of Islam and we all need to decide together what to do. I am calling for open conversations on our values.

HARMONY IN THE UK - Lil Truth

Yea Sharia Law is at odds with the western way of life ina few big ways. There are many Muslims calling for Shariah law in the UK. I don't think that is wise because many of the reasons people leave their home countries for the UK is due to our laws regarding freedom of expression. Unfortunately that means people can use their freedom of expression to express support for ideas that would supress the freedom of expression. Interesting thought right!

Good News

Bernice Johnson Reagon once sang for us a corrective teaching, along the lines that: “It’s ‘good news’ when you reject things as they are. […] And they don’t say ‘it’s good times’, they say ‘it’s good news’.” Fifty years later, these are definitely not good times. And, in this powerfully strange moment, even looking around for ‘good news’ often feels inappropriately consolational, often at fatal odds with the dreads and taunts of today’s geopolitical realism. This opening talk for our Spring School welcomes in the resources of “untimely optimism” (Feldman 2023), “out-of-phasedness” (Doumani 2007), “gramáticas de lo inaudito” (Acosta López 2023) and “anticipatory illuminations” (Bloch in Zipes 2019), in hopes of making room for a peace-in-this-time whose living vitality is the opposite of resigned quietism. To that end, we will meet head-on a few of the nightmares-of-the-self that may well haunt a peace-lover in Spring of 2025, seeking to expel that haunt and conjure in its place some unprecedented good news.

In this episode, Julie Ward, former MEP with a background in activism, talks about the Durham-based 'No To Hassockfield' campaign. Hassockfield is the site of an Immigration Removal Centre and the campaign was fighting for its closure, uses creative arts as a powerful tool to raise awareness of the harms caused by asylum detention and the need to provide community alternatives, whilst also providing a culture of care for the campaigners. 

This presentation was recorded at the UNESCO RIELA Spring School: The Arts of Integrating 2025. This event gets hosted annually in person in Glasgow, Scotland in May and online in October. The next edition is due on 27-31 October 2025.

Welcome to this new RISE Breathwork journey — a 25-minute practice created to help you ground, reset, and integrate after Burning Man. The playa has a way of expanding us, cracking us open, and showing us new layers of ourselves. This session is designed to help you anchor those lessons, release what no longer serves, and carry the essence of your Burn back into daily life.

His mission is to make transformation accessible and to support integration beyond peak experiences. In this practice, you’ll move through cycles of conscious connected breathing (activation) and retentions (relaxation) — all supported by an original soundtrack composed by Joep. The music blends grounding textures, expansive harmonies, and immersive soundscapes, guiding you into presence and deeper connection.

What to expect in this session:
• 25-minute guided breathwork journey
• Four cycles designed for grounding and integration after Burning Man (Joy, Lessons, Letting Go, and Connection)

Breathwork Instructions

This is a connected breath practice — no pause between inhale and exhale.
• Inhale: Belly & chest expand
• Exhale: Belly & chest fall
• Breathing in: Mouth (more powerful) or nose (gentler)
• Breathing out: Mouth
• Each cycle includes dynamic breathing followed by two retentions (~45 sec after exhale, then ~45 sec after inhale).
• You may feel tingling, changes in temperature, or mild muscle tension — these are normal effects of breathwork.
• If overwhelmed, return to gentle breathing in and out through the nose (focus on prolonging your exhale).
• Always listen to your body and never force anything.

If you have a history of psychosis or epileptic seizures, this practice is not for you.

If you are currently pregnant, please listen closely to your body. Only participate if it feels right for you — and do not perform or hold any of the breath retentions.
