I wrote this song from a place of watching people disappear into the digital maze, chasing the dream of becoming the next big name overnight. The promise is everywhere  fame, followers, millions of streams but somewhere along the way, the person behind the music can get lost.

This is not a fight against AI or technology. It’s about the emptiness that can come from chasing a shortcut and forgetting the blood, sweat, mistakes, and struggles that shape a real artist. A song can have a perfect beat, but without a piece of yourself inside it, something is missing.

I wanted to ask one simple question: when all the clicks disappear and the lights go out, what is left standing?

Sometimes we need to step away from the screen, feel the ground beneath our feet, breathe the air, look at the sky, and remember that we are more than numbers, algorithms, and digital echoes.

I grew up during the UK’s 1960s music revolution and never lost my fascination with music’s ability to shape feeling and identity.

I began on SoundCloud in 2018, composing works on my Ipad using MIDI. I made over 40 “midiconstructs”, as I called them, using Cubasis. But, there was always a massive gap between my aspirations and the execution. Without any performance skills the music was always very “stilted”. Say what you like about the AI revolution, but it has made a big difference to someone like me who just wants to explore musical expression, while not being talented, or even motivated towards musical performance. Whilst I admire, greatly, the skill of talented musical performers, for me that mode of expression is not the be all and end all of musical endeavor.  Even when the vocals and instruments have been provided by modern tools, there is still plenty of room for musical creativity. 
The point about music is that it is a human legacy that is available to everyone. Ultimately it is the product of 3 billion years of evolution. A mysterious and marvelous means of communication that is encoded in our DNA. So much of the music industry is associated with ownership. People with talent should be rewarded for providing the means of musical  entertainment, but at the same time we should remember we are all making use of what has been given to us by the universe, and no  individual owns that.

Using AI tools and a DAW. I now make ideas-driven songs that explore perception, genre, recognition, and the strange business of being human in a technological age. Some tracks speak directly; others simply invite you to enjoy the sound and notice what your mind supplies.
