It has since gone on to be selected as Ireland's submission for Best International Feature Film at the upcoming Academy Awards. Feature debut writer and director Rich Peppiatt, along with Kneecap members Liam Óg "Mo Chara" Ó Hannaidh, Naoise "Móglaí Bap" Ó Cairealláin & JJ "DJ Próvaí" Ó Dochartaigh were all kind enough to spend some time talking with us about their experiences making the musical biopic, which you can listen to, read, or watch below. In 1971, John Francis witnessed an oil tanker collision in the San Francisco Bay. The sight of oiled birds on the shoreline caused him to give up motorized transport and begin what would become a 22-year pilgrimage across the country, and taking a vow of silence so he could focus on listening to the people he encountered. His story is told in the short film PLANETWALKER and he is our first guest this week. 

KNEECAP is the real-life story of three directionless young men from West Belfast who form a rap group (dubbed KNEECAP) and become unlikely figureheads for the civil rights movement to save the Irish language. In this fiercely original sex, drugs and hip-hop biopic, KNEECAP play themselves, laying down a global rallying cry for the defense of native cultures. We sit down with rappers/actors Móglaí Bap (Naoise) & DJ "JJ" Próvai and director Rich Peppiatt.

Kevin McDaid is an Irish house producer and DJ from Cork. He has been releasing tracks since 2021, and his music is influenced by the likes of Alex Hobson, Belters Only, and Seamus D.

In early 2023 after consistently posting track after track, he had his first independent release My Lovin' go viral everywhere, especially on TikTok, Spotify and Soundcloud. Now on all his releases, he has amassed over 10 million streams on all platforms.

He made his home debut gig at the start of 2024, warming up for NewEra in Cyprus Avenue.
