Cut! (feat. issue)

This was the first full song I ever wrote and shared on social media in August 2016, then re-shared in October 2023. Sang and played the piano and recorded with my camera at home for YouTube, then stripped the audio from that, nothing fancy.

May we never ignore the cries of suffering around us. May we listen to calls for justice and freedom.

Hear Them Crying

A quick song I wrote in my first and second languages as a response to what's happening in the USA, in solidarity with immigrant communities under attack. This is for the collective, inspired by immigrants who make our communities greater and those protecting and supporting humans who have migrated for a better life.

Recorded on my iPhone camera with background vocals added later on Garage Band using my headphone mic. (I have the most basic equipment but lots of heart :)

*Note on explicit language: I couldn’t think of a more fitting word to describe the vulgar, violent, profane actions being carried out against our fellow siblings. This literary choice is an invitation (for me as well) to reflect on whether we prioritize politeness and palatability over calling out harm. Do we require feelings to be sanitized before we will truly listen, or speak out?
