Born and raised in Verona, Maddalena Pasqua di Bisceglie studied Contemporary History in Italy before joining her father's new project in 1995 - to become winegrowers at Musella, a stunning estate located just 10 km from Verona, in the heart of the Valpolicella area. Driven by curiosity and passion, Maddalena traveled across Italy and visited top wine regions around the world, learning the art of winemaking and viticulture from some of the most respected names in the field. For many years, she focused on sales and administration, while vineyard and cellar operations remained outside her scope until 2009.
From the very beginning, Maddalena felt a deep desire to align Musella’s farming practices with the surrounding natural beauty. She discovered biodynamics in 2002 and, after years of study and preparation, fully converted Musella’s vineyards and winery to the biodynamic method in 2009. Today, she continues to manage the estate with growing passion and enthusiasm, producing wines that reflect both her beliefs and the unique character of Musella’s land.

Professor Attilio Scienza is the one who checks all the facts and regulates when we mistakenly type “Verdicchio” instead of “Vermentino.” He is a full professor at the University of Milan in the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences where he teaches courses on genetic improvements to the vine; he also teaches Viticulture in the Master’s program of the University of Turin in Asti. 
He has been the lead for many national research projects in the field of physiology, agricultural techniques, and vine genetics. As the author of over 350 publications on vine and viticulture in national and international journals, you can bet he knows his stuff!

Captivated by this heritage, she chose to dedicate herself fully to the craft after graduating from university, joining her father at Viña Raíz Criolla — a small family winery committed to environmental stewardship and honoring the traditions of its land.
Viña Raíz Criolla is a Chilean winery located in Portezuelo, specializing in traditional, handcrafted wines made from old-vine País and Moscatel de Alejandría grapes. They focus on minimal intervention winemaking, using native yeasts and emphasizing the terroir of their vineyards. Their portfolio includes red País wine, white Moscatel de Alejandría, a Moscatel Late Harvest, and a sweet red País wine.

Since 2022, she has served as Marketing and Communication Manager at the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino. 
Previously, Carlotta led hospitality and direct-to-consumer sales at Fèlsina winery (2015–2022), following an early career as an agronomic consultant specializing in organic and biodynamic viticulture (2014–2015). In 2019, she was named Best Italian Sommelier by FISAR. Her professional path blends scientific expertise with strategic communication, with a focus on promoting Italian wine through education, storytelling, and global outreach. Carlotta has spoken at major international wine events and was recognized among the “Top 50 Wine Influencers in Italy” in 2023.

Welcome to Episode 2421 of the Italian Wine Podcast On the Road Edition. In this special On the Road Edition, Stevie Kim is back in Asolo, one of Italy's most beautiful towns, in the Veneto region of northern Italy, near Venice. Today, Stevie is in conversation with local brand ambassador Gianpaolo Giacobbo, exploring the characteristics that give this lesser-known Italian region its unique identity.

Stevie and Gianpaolo discuss the use of local varieties, the various production methods used, and the secrets to distinguishing between different types of Italian bubbles. Gianpaolo also explains the differences between the Charmat method, also known as the Martinotti method, and the classic method and the differences between the traditional "col fondo" and ancestral methods, and the impact these techniques have on the finished product. Gianpaolo Giacobbo is a wine writer, educator, and taster based in Bassano del Grappa. He has contributed to leading publications such as Porthos, Slow Wine Magazine, Spirito diVino, and Fine Wine Magazine, and co-hosted the radio segment I Vini Ascoltati on Radio Vicenza.
He is the author or co-author of several books, including Il Piacere della Grappa, Il Grande Viaggio nel Vino Italiano, and Le Migliori 100 Bollicine d’Italia. He has also translated and contributed to key texts on biodynamic and natural wine.
As an educator, Gianpaolo teaches at the University of Gastronomic Sciences (UNISG) in Pollenzo and Ca’ Foscari University in Venice, and leads seminars globally through the Slow Wine World Tour. He has served as a judge for major wine competitions and as a longtime contributor to the Slow Wine and Vini Buoni d’Italia guides. He currently works as a wine selector and trainer for Arkè Vini Naturali.

Born and raised in the Tuscan village of Suvereto, Filippo is a wine travel expert, writer, and founder and CEO of Fufluns Wine Tours. His journey started in 1996, when he received a degree in Hotel and Tourism Management from the University of Economics in Florence, followed by an MBA in Hospitality Management from Brighton University, in the UK. He subsequently worked as a food and beverage manager in several luxury hotel chains, before transitioning his career into wine following several life changing tastings and trips to leading wine producing regions around the world. In 2001 he earned a degree from Le Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux and in 2006 completed the WSET Diploma, becoming the first Italian to achieve this distinction.

Born in Mexico to a diverse family—his mother hailing from Hawaii via Korea and his father, an anthropologist, from New York via Paris—Marc was introduced to a rich tapestry of flavors from an early age.
Together with his talented photographer wife, Kim, Marc has authored 14 acclaimed books, including the groundbreaking illustrated series The Wine Roads of Europe, The Wine Roads of France, The Wine Roads of Italy (winner of the Premio Barbi Colombini), and The Wine Roads of Spain. His other notable works include The Wine and Food of Europe, The Food Lovers’ Companion Italy, The Food Lovers’ Companion France, and Wine: A Global History.
In addition to his writing, Marc is a sought-after speaker and hosts gastronomic cultural tours to Italy and France in partnership with Martin Randall Travel, a leading specialist in cultural travel. Since 2021, he has also been the engaging host of the “Wine, Food, and Travel with Marc Millon” series on the Italian Wine Podcast. When he's not exploring the culinary landscapes of the world, Marc resides along the scenic River Exe in Devon, England.
