I am focused on non musical pursuits right now so I can have a sustainable career not reliant on the whims, trends and insipid cultural-sex-popularity games of the entertainment world while I learn to speak computer. (I'm learning programming)

Once the computer gods grant me a career and income I will return to getting high and making music.

For now I'm working out, reading books and talking to computers.

Và thế là chúng ta đã có Little Blue, một bản cover của một bài hát mà hai đứa vô cùng yêu, đi theo những cuốc xe vô cùng ồn ào của hai đứa theo sau vợ chồng Nghi Đăng đi ăn, tiny đé và chơi It Takes Two này kia.

I struggled a bit with this, something was always missing - and then I found it. A choir (thank you Jacob Collier) and electric guitar, obviously.

Little Blue is a song written and recorded by Jacob Collier. As a great admirer of his artistry and a lover of this song, I decided to record my own cover of “Little Blue.” I believe when we cover another artist’s song, it behooves us to add our unique experiences and voices to our rendition. This cover song is quintessential Spirit—from the breathy “huhs” to the “golden chords” as I like to call them (this is the extent of my music theory)—this cover song sounds like me. I also hope it sounds like its source material, “Little Blue” by Jacob Collier. Can you hear the resemblance? Cover songs in my practice are relatives instead of identical (or even fraternal) twins.

I have a special connection to the personification of Blue after having a dream of a blue being in 2018. I even wrote a song about it not long after. Unbeknownst to me when I began this cover, little moments from my song “The Dream of Blue” make cameo  harmonic appearances. 

My honest thoughts as I sit and write this: the song is about a quarter of the way finished. It’s Wednesday, November. 27th, the day before Thanksgiving. My big sister is in labor with twins. I feel a world of possibility before me.

With the birth of my twin nieces, a portal is now open and our lives are forever changed. I ask myself how will I walk in this New Earth? I believe this time I’ll spread my wings and fly. There is a learning curve involved, but I’ve always been a quick study and an eager pupil.

I’ve always loved to learn.

From Jacob Collier I’ve learned an endless well of creativity is meant to pour out, not to be sequestered far beneath the earth.

I’m gathering my courage to break through once frozen ground. 

I wonder if anyone will listen to this song. I wonder if anyone will like it. I must say I adore it. The people who are here to walk this earth alongside me will adore it, too. Sometimes I question if anyone ^is^ here to walk with me musically. I remind myself that no one is here to walk alone.

My wish as I write this is to have one listener genuinely connect with this song.

And you know what? 

It counts if that person is me.

I have been creating music since my misspent youth. Every song has a story.

I started with sample based tracks via Dance eJay and Acid Music on my x486 PC, the output from which I would describe as interpretive.

My first writing from scratch started with the glorious Yamaha RM1x and subsequently the Yamaha RS7000. With limited responsibility and seemingly endless weekends, I found the creative spark.

I have diddled a bit with my Teenage Engineering OP-1, Novation Circuit and Korg Electribe 2 (see tracks for evidence), and I briefly touched the Native Instruments Maschine MK2 but I didn't have the PC power to run with that.

Once Akai announced the MPC Live, I was positively salivating and purchased on release.

It has always been about an all in one box solution for me, and now I am only limited by my own creativity and precious free time (thanks, kids).

I write things that I like to listen to, but commercial music this is not. I could see my music in a game, artsy video or fever dream.

At least, when it's all done, I can say that I made some nice noise, even if nobody else thinks so.
