Mezanmi is a Creole word which has it's origins in the French, 'mes amis' and when I was thinking about songs that tied to that theme, this one immediately came to mind. It's a song that evokes so many different moments and people for me and the original perfectly balances this driving euphoria with a feeling of wistful nostalgia. I wanted to transform the song into a version for strings, voice and synthesiser so set about building the score.
