Hi, my name is Mike aka Reflections and I am a native of northeast Florida. Some of my longtime friends will remember when I went by 'teh Cynic' (yes, "the" is intentionally misspelled, it's an old message board thing, haha.) I've been a drum n bass fan since 1999 when an Army barracks mate took me to a rave in Atlanta. He'd already started getting me into the music, playing mixes for me by the likes of Goldie, Dieselboy, and LTJ Bukem, along with a fair bit of trance and prog house. It was that party though, my first time getting to experience the music on a large sound system, when it all began to make sense. There was house and breaks earlier in the night, and then DJ Odi came on for a two hour set and that was the moment when it all started to come together for me. Having been a jazz musician in high school, listening to mostly 90's hip hop at the same time, and growing up on good ol' rock n roll, this drum n bass music had everything for me. 

2003 is when I started collecting records and learning how to mix them. I would spend countless hours watching other DJs both at local clubs and videos on sites like dnbtv.com, carefully observing their tricks and techniques, and eventually developing my own mixing style and tastes for music. Taking cues from those early influences, I like to take listeners on a journey and show them different levels and moods, kind of like a movie soundtrack. I have a tendency to draw more B sides and obscure tracks, and the styles can range anywhere from deep liquid to dark and subliminal. Often times, the music I play for any given set is influenced by my own mood at the time, and even though I have a playlist picked out I never really know what I'm actually going to play until its time comes.

I've been honored to have played at many venues around here as well as neighboring cities like Gainesville, Ocala and Orlando over the past twenty years. When I was invited to play for Clyde Avery's Drum N Bass Night, which later became what we now know as Modūl, I knew it was something special and that I had to bring the A game. I hope this mix also lives up to that expectation and I think you'll find that the variety of tunes is a good match for the Modūl aesthetic.
