‘It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good’ was not my favourite proverb at school, but I’ve recently come to fully appreciate its meaning. The history of police interest in our party’s pamphlet on zionism reveals the persistent involvement of British zionist organisations as the unofficial but increasingly influential political police in Britain. These unaccountable groups are largely invisible to the general public, but they are active on social media and on the streets, looking for activists for the police and other state and professional institutions to target for supposed ‘antisemitism’ and ‘terrorism’ offences – ie, for their opposition to Anglo-American imperialism’s settler-colonial project in the middle east.
