One Good Thing

This album is a follow-up album to my "What's Gonna Become of Us" by Wilfred Kozub project that I did in 2015. That one was an instrumental album, and it remains one of my very favourite works that I created. It is the only album of mine that I listen to regularly.

I wanted to do another instrumental album in the same vein. But a few new songs with lyrics came to me magically and mysteriously. I wasn't expecting that, but I liked them so much that I decided to change my plans and create a balance of those new vocal songs, some new instrumental tracks, and a couple others that I never really found a home for – until I finally decided to make them part of "The Last Vibrations of Summer".

I like this new album very much. As an album, it hangs together very smoothly. It is very satisfying for me, and I hope it will be for you, too.

Ruby asked me to write a jive song, so this track is my response to her request. She is the mother of four daughters whom she loves dearly. Ruby was a good artistic roller skater in her younger days before becoming an acclaimed coach of figure skating. She took two of her daughters to international competition. She was also well regarded throughout Australia as a teacher of ballroom and new vogue dancing. Severe back pain in later life has forced her to retire from the activities she loved so much.

What is the meaning behind the name SIGMA7?

Symbolic Meaning: "Sigma" is the Greek letter Σ, commonly used in mathematics and science to denote a summation or total. It signifies a sum of elements coming together or the culmination of different parts. This could represent your approach to music production, bringing together various elements and influences to create a cohesive and harmonious whole. The number 7 is often associated with spiritual and mystical significance, representing intuition, inner wisdom, and enlightenment. Combining Sigma and 7, your artist name could convey a fusion of intellectual and intuitive elements in your music.

Hailing from Montreal, Quebec – SIGMA7 started his musical adventure as a teenager studying music theory and taking piano and organ lessons. By the time he got to college, he furthered his knowledge and took lessons in classical guitar.

It was in his early 20’s that his passion for music started to develop. He was introduced to Montreal’s underground house scene and quickly became a regular at various venues.

In 1997, he moved to The Netherlands to further his career in IT. While living abroad, his brother introduced him to computer-based recording and there was an immediate connection between creativity and technology. He was quickly able to relate in mixing samples together from his prior exposure to house music and a love of producing music was born.

Starting off with remixing, SIGMA7 began to release tracks as early as 1999 such as Strange Love Addiction by the Supreme Beings of Leisure, Much Too Much by Andain and Hot as Hades by Winter Kills primarily on sites such as Mixman, Acid Planet and more recently SoundCloud.

His musical style began to develop very quickly and throughout the years has developed a unique sound – alternating between making remixes and creating original mixes focusing mainly on House.

In 2015, he was discovered by Florida based KIKI Records and was signed on to the label.

His first album entitled BEGINNINGS was released in December 2015.

Always setting the bar higher, SIGMA7 is committed to expanding his repertoire and advancing his knowledge in sound production so that he can deliver quality tracks.

I am a solo recording artist who produces his own original music in Tweed Heads West, NSW, Australia.
 
My songs are released under the band name Retrospection. The joy and satisfaction I get from making music and sharing it, is my reward, although I do like to receive some recognition for my efforts!

Back in December 1963, after graduating from high school in Brisbane, QLD, Australia, I formed the rock band The Avengers in which I played lead guitar and sang backing vocals. We were semi-professional, playing any or all of the nights from Friday through to Sunday.

After two years I had to leave the band to take up a teaching career. Throughout my life I kept up (unpaid) entertainment as extra-curricular activities in the various schools in which I worked.

Unfortunately, I am no longer able to give live performances because of health problems.

This was quite a different project for us (Everything's a different project for us these days!! Who cares? . . . WE DO!!!) . . . a bit more of an experimental adventure, for sure. Ok. Here is some info about me, Wilfred. Music is a big thing in my life . . . I’ve been tuning into radio since I was a little kid (on a crystal set – rocket radio!) and I grew up with access to a large record collection (vinyl and, later . . . everything else that followed).  I was lucky to be a teen during a very musically fertile time – when the Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and tonnes of other greats were creating fresh music for my fresh ears. To this day, I like it when an artist has his own sound but doesn't sound 'all the same' , , , and this is what I try to do.  Most of my own music is written for records by my group, Wilfred N & the Grown Men. I also love making experimental music.
