Written by Billy Preston, Bruce Fisher and Dennis Wilson, this song was first released in 1974 on Preston’s album The Kids & Me. Cocker’s heart-wrenching version also released in 1974 on the album “I Can Stand a Little Rain” popularized the song.

Back to celebrating great Americans, this time we set out to honour three of them at once. 
Robert "Bobby" Sharp, who wrote this song, Ray Charles, who first recorded it in 1961, and finally Joe Cocker who's 1987 cover probably became the most well known rendition.

In questa reinterpretazione essenziale e potente di Delta Lady, i FACTORY (Mark III) spogliano il brano da ogni eccesso corale per restituirne il cuore più autentico: un soul-blues viscerale, ruvido, diretto. Niente cori gospel, solo cinque musicisti affiatati e un’energia che scorre senza filtri.
Antonio Miscali alla voce e chitarra acustica domina la scena con un’interpretazione calda, intensa, dal timbro soul e graffiato. Il suo canto, mai enfatico, ma profondamente sentito, guida il brano in un crescendo emozionale. Sergio Virdis disegna linee elettriche pungenti e vibranti, mentre il basso profondo e rotondo di Chris Pain e la batteria incalzante e precisa di Luca Monaco costruiscono una base solida e sincopata.
A fare la differenza, il tocco retrò di Silvio Vinci, che abbandona l’Hammond per un Wurlitzer elettrico: il suo suono metallico, funky e caldo insieme, dà al pezzo un sapore decisamente vintage ma originale, portando la rilettura verso territori tra Muscle Shoals e rock psichedelico inglese. Delta Lady dei FACTORY non è una copia, ma una trasformazione: un omaggio rispettoso e al tempo stesso personale, segnato da gusto, equilibrio e passione.

Delta Lady – FACTORY Mark III

Registrata durante una sessione informale in sala prove, la versione di Delta Lady proposta dalla FACTORY Mark III è una rivisitazione potente e viscerale del celebre brano reso immortale da Joe Cocker.
Se l’originale brillava per il suo impasto soul e l’arrangiamento gospel-oriented firmato Leon Russell, qui si cambia marcia: la FACTORY spinge sull’acceleratore e trasforma il pezzo in un travolgente brano rock-blues con venature garage e tratti psichedelici, in perfetto stile “Mark III”.
L’Hammond, crudo e graffiante, apre il brano con un riff ipnotico; la chitarra lo segue con riff taglienti e un tocco quasi southern. La sezione ritmica incalza con groove deciso, spingendo il tempo verso territori ben più ruvidi rispetto alla versione soul degli anni ’70. La voce, roca e diretta, abbandona le inflessioni soul per un’interpretazione più raw, quasi da pub-rock inglese, senza perdere di intensità.

Il risultato è una Delta Lady più istintiva, meno romantica, ma dannatamente energica. Una cover che non omaggia soltanto, ma reinterpreta con personalità, confermando la vocazione live e sperimentale della FACTORY nella sua nuova fase.
Perfetta per chi ama le reinterpretazioni che osano, questa versione suona come se fosse stata partorita in uno scantinato fumoso di Londra nel ’71.
E non è affatto un difetto.

We are trio of multi-instrumentalists from the boring religious suburbs of Utah, combining our seemingly incongruous musical influences into a new kind of inspiring and zany rock music to keep ourselves sane. Christian Michelsen on Vocals, Piano and Guitar adds a wild uncontained love of blues, classic rock, grunge, thrash metal and an gnawing obsession with The Beatles. Tabor Carle on drums brings a lifetime of studying the prog rock masters like Rush, Tool & Porcupine Tree. Elise Fernandez on Bass and various instruments is the technical mastermind and secret weapon that makes every band stick like glue. We'll tackle any genre, and use anything our disposal to make it happen.

Also, we have a dragon. Her name is Patti. You might find her lounging around at our shows as dragons tend to do.

Love the classic music of the past. Hope what I put out there will enlighten young listeners that may never have heard these songs.
