May 2025 Mix Part 3

Alot of energies shifting and changing up everything in people's lives at the moment. 
I have always been very sensitive to what's happening in the sky and the effect it has on mankind. I'm amidst probably the most intense inner transformation I've had in this life. basically every single part of my life has shifted in the last 6 months. 
At this point in the journey, I believe the vital cogs have turned and hard work and dedication will very soon be coming into alignment... so here it is. :)

Looks like I made another Techno for this Sublime Saturdays at Gelato Vero Caffe in San Diego. Oops. Still repped a little Disco; still repped a lot of Deep House; but I swerved like a fanatic into some Hypnotic Techno. There's a thick psychic layer of creative energy there, so it's not surprise I could successfully pul off something so unlikely. You just need to be there to feel it. A lot of it wouldn't fit into that specific genre, but it was the vibe I decided to build out of nowhere. It was a hot night and no one seemed to mind. In fact, I was rewarded with some "oh sick" smiles and some nodding heads. This may not always happen, but it felt like there was no way around it. Techno for an answer.

Owl Farm 2025: sometimes sequels CAN be better than their predecessors.

What a weekend of amazing music, company, and adventure!

Once again, the good folk in Reno came together for an epic weekend, along with a number of new and familiar faces, springing out from the Pacific Northwest, San Diego, Arizona, and the Midwest.

It was fantastic.

This collection of tunes and ideas was meant to kick off a medley of Breakbeat sets Saturday evening, courtesy of the old Good Friday gang. It wasn't latenight yet, but the mission was clear: meld early evening into the oncoming insanity in a firm but organic manner.

I hope that comes through as well in the recording as it did in the moment.

As always, I tried to bring my best, as did other members of my old Good Friday Crew (and many others). It was just a small part of the enormous effort, collaboration, and attention to detail that everyone involved brought.

[Brief Me-Story]
Preacherman [Yumm Yumm Good]...a DJ whose dance music tastes are as varied as the friends he keeps. To him the 4/4 beat is the foundation, the canvas for which any possibility can lead to a feeling, a need; a want to DANCE. Since the age of 16, he has been into dance music; during that time he also set up a small DJ business with a couple of friends and they played the High School circuit for the next couple of years. 

Preacherman came across 'House Afire' on K-Tel records sometime in 1989 and easily fell spell to the sounds and the rythms of Soul 2 Soul, Inner City and trax like Yo Yo Get Funky, Voodo Ray and Notice Me. Influenced by his dad’s collection of Disco and Jazz; blended with his mother’s Latin blood, he brings a rhythmic flavor to his sets; each one different in its approach, as he believes in sharing his ever changing mood through the sounds produced by the global talent in the scene today. 

A weekend club warrior and an avid collector of MOONSHINE, Perfecto and Renaissance Compilations et.al; circa 1993-2000, the Preacherman would not begin to immerse himself in the DJ art until he set foot in the Guvernment, Toronto (c. 2005). A city which boast one of the most concentrated blend of underground talent and House Music lovers in the world.  

Beginning in 2005 he has carefully networked his way into the DJ community sharing his passion for House Music. Through hard work, dedication and a genuine love of the people that have made this music the soundtrack to their lives, Preacherman teamed up with BOUNCE; their collective energies have hosted some great Funky House talent [DJ Sneak, Sonny Fodera, DJ MES, DJ DAN, Hector Morales, JT Donaldson, Jason Hodges]; having a direct impact in shaping and reviving a sound that is refreshingly welcomed in Toronto. 

Preacherman has returned to New York after spending the last 8 years in Toronto. While he has left the scene as a club warrior, the beat has not left him and he has been preparing for a moment like this. His unique style of play and music selections are influenced by the likes of Steve Lawler [ViVa], Nathan Barato [Roots & Wings], Danny Howells, Hernan Cateneo, Deep Dish, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, Ricky Ryan...the list can go on. When in the mix Preacherman imagines the dark rooms of some of the greatest undergound clubs he has visited around the world, creating a delicious groove energy from his crate of Funky Deep Tech Minimal Techno Producers.

As the son of a professional flamenco singer, Thomas has always been surrounded by music.  Exposure to flamenco influenced him because it has a dynamic range of emotions—from the "deep singing" style of cante hondo, to the more lively alegrias.  He has also worked in the corporate, independent, and online music industry for a number of years.  At one point he was a Content Manager for the Electronic Music genre at MP3.com, where he screened over 500 songs per day.  Exposure to a wide range of music explains the range of genres in his mixes—he uses whatever carries the mood.  From listening to Umm Kulthum's "Enta Omri" in his childhood, to New Wave and  Industrial as a teen, it became difficult for him to stick to one sound. Though vinyl was his original format of choice when he started in the 90s, the use of digital mixing has helped him better form soundscapes to expand your headspace.  Let him play with your moods for a spell.

As the owner and director of the Australian label Smash Bang Records, Timmus is a prolific artist with a diverse range of sonic explorations. He crafts and performs under various aliases, each a unique facet of his artistic vision: Sacred Summit, Micro Jaxon, Swingtime Paradigm, and Psymus Drummit. He also lends his rhythmic prowess as the hybrid drummer for The Oddness & Band.

These projects, along with his solo work, showcase his ability to seamlessly blend genres and push the boundaries of sonic exploration.
He is a weaver of sound, a collector of auditory fragments, a builder of sonic sanctuaries. From the tender age of four, nestled in the quiet of rural Victoria, he crafted instruments and captured sonic impressions on cassette. Timmus is a prism, refracting sound into a spectrum of artistic expressions.
