ETHNO is releasing his debut EP “Musicology Vol. 1” on Gravitas Recordings September 1st.  This EP is the beginning of the artistic gates opening for ETHNO, sitting on hours of original music and ready to show the world this first chapter.  Jeffrey Franca (ETHNO) is the drummer and musical director for Thievery Corporation and has a full lifetime of touring and influences under his belt.  His unique approach on global bass music incorporates all of these influences from around the world into a special blend of sounds.  We are excited for what is next for this legend and his project ETHNO.

The Journey opens the EP with panning female vocal chants, flutes and synths filling the air and painting a beautiful soundscape.  It drops into flowing bass and beautiful stabby synths, epicly building into a larger drop incorporating a new lead and a flow beat. Awake again (ft. Celestine) slows down the tempo and starts with lush string instruments and beautiful vocals that immediately teleport us to another world.  Building on top with catchy electronic synth leads and a catchy chorus, this one can put anyone in a good mood. Exhale has a beautiful downtempo intro and slowly brings in electronic leads and similar sounds to the previous tracks, maintaining the same vibe yet showing a different side to the project.  Leaf Water opens with beautiful analog synth stabs and vocal chops, echoing around the soundscape and immediately enchanting the listener. Slowly building and layering new ideas, this meditative beat brings in heavier bright synths that brings us back to the old school electronic music sound.  My Personality (ft. Born-I) switches it up and brings a higher energy groove and brings in iconic rapper Born-I.  Focusing more on the beat and rap than the synths and other ideas, while still incorporating the sound and style that ETHNO has created for this release.  A perfect end to the release that leaves us wanting more.

These singles showcase two different sides of Floret Loret that are both developed further in the upcoming album.  A perfect glimpse into his latest sound that we can’t get enough of, this standout single is ready to rattle the big speakers.

Bloodstone opens with a lush atmosphere and quickly dives into a groovy driving beat and heavy sound design full of glitches and bass wobbles.  Building with beautiful distant melodies and dropping into a dark and deep bass rhythm hard not to move to.  Another perfect blend of beautiful downtempo and heavy glitchy bass, this is another great example of his flawless genre-bending sound and showcases the heavier style that he is ready to share with the world.

To The Tide returns to Gravitas Recordings with a dual single March 8th leading up to his beautiful album.  Inspired by the sleep cycle, the flow of the album is somewhat symmetrical. Many songs have counterparts directly across on the album, specifically “Summer Night” and “Winter Light”.  These songs were written from the same project files using shared sonic palettes, and are intended to be listened together for the full experience.  “Winter Light / Summer Night” showcases a sneak preview into a contemplative journey through To The Tide’s unique and immersive sound. Float away to these special tracks with us.

‘Winter Light’ opens with dreamy vocal chops, with distant percussion slowly filtering in with a stabby synth melody.  It quickly drops into an immersive broken beat groove and heavy 808s while still holding the original beauty, ending with a surreal half-time drop switch up that will melt you away.  ‘Summer Night’ brings back a 2-step broken beat groove and emotive vocal chops, adding in more synths and building upon this contemplative emotion To The Tide has created.  It follows a similar format with a half-time second drop, adding in live world bass influences and a beautiful end to the reflective journey.
