Synopsis for Poet With a Pistol



Jude Quinn is releasing new music for the first time in 6 years with his new track “Poet with a pistol” off his upcoming album titled “Green Valley Church Road II”. 

Fueled by substance abuse and a deep desire to immortalize an incredibly beautiful experience, “Poet With a Pistol” features the use of samples and field recordings taken on an IPhone 8 on a farm in a small town called Nashville, Indiana. 

On a warm summer weekend, Jude was hanging with new friends on this farm during a writing and recording session. They spent the previous night messing around in the studio when he realized he needed a new song to record the following day. They spent the night partying and reconnecting with their inner child.

Jude never slept that night. Instead he pondered his notebook with his guitar close by and wrote a new song called “I Want an Ocean” reveling in the mid morning air as a congregation of farm animals swarmed around.

 He played this song for an audience of new friends later on in the day and during that jam Jude got the bright idea to start recording off of his iPhone just in case they happened to strike gold. Little did he know that this would be the beginning of an entire new project that would incorporate samples of songs and field recordings that were captured on his phone that was still recording unbeknownst to him in his breast pocket during one of the most amazing days of his life. 

The album focuses heavily on the wonder of travel, making new friends, leaving behind the past, adapting to and wanting more out of life. The entire album has been designed in a way that it focuses on the four and a half hour sample taken in his breast pocket unknowingly while one of the most magical days of his life unfolds. It has been created in such a way that the experimental songs and production revel in the beauty that lays inside imperfection.

If you have ever imagined music that incorporates folk, emo, and shoe-gaze in an experimental fashion, this track will tickle your ear in the desired fashion.

This is Jude’s most unique and introspective work to date. The entire album plays out like story, a fairy tale even. Songs play on themselves and inspire what would become the next track in the album, spurred along by samples of new friends all chatting while someone strums a guitar. Some songs feature samples of rain, woodland ambience, the sound of a van traveling down the roadway, etc.

If you are the type of person who enjoys an album that will decimate you by invoking emotions in a way that your own personal experience is realized and resonated with, this song is for you.
