"The Fantastic Four: First Steps"

"Weapons" is the latest horror film from director and writer Zach Cregger, whose feature directorial debut, "Barbarian," was a huge success when it was released in 2022. His follow-up has been greatly anticipated since then, and Warner Bros. has done an incredible job marketing the film to get audiences super interested in what the horror filmmaker has up his sleeve for his latest. Working with an all-star cast that includes Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Cary Christopher, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong & Amy Madigan, the film follows the case of seventeen kids from the same classroom who mysteriously disappear overnight at the exact same time, with their teacher being the main suspect. Cregger was kind enough to speak with us about his work and experience making the film, which you can listen to below. BT 65 Teaser - WEAPONS, EDDINGTON, THE NAKED GUN + JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH (Spoilers)

One of the most hotly-anticipated horror films in recent memory, Weapons begins with seventeen third-grade children in a Pennsylvania town mysteriously waking up at 2:17am one Wednesday and running from their homes into the darkness. The shocking, unexplained disappearance and imagery of an empty classroom alone suggest an allegory of school shootings, and we ask what else can be read into the film, and discuss the depth with which it handles its themes. We have our issues with Weapons but enjoy it very much all the same, and find a lot to like. It's probably just a little overpraised.

Two weeks later, with the film still on his mind, Mike opens up further discussion and proposes that maybe there's more to it than he gave it credit for - or that you have to be American to properly get it.

In this episode, the boys are back together, recapping the summer movie season with takes on Superman, Weapons, and Fantastic Four. They share their experiences, give non-spoiler reviews, and dive into what the future of the DC Universe might look like. Is Weapons the movie of the summer? Is DC finally on the right track? One of the guys even declares that the Marvel Universe is officially dead.

They also debate which Adam Sandler movie deserves another sequel and swap their favorite quotes from the endlessly hilarious Naked Gun. All this while sipping on their go-to summertime beers.
