"The Ultimate Golden Era of Drum n' Bass Volume 2" marks the continuation of a groundbreaking project by the renowned electronic music producer, DJ, and sound designer, Joseph Perri, known as MACCA.

This endeavor aims to encapsulate the allure of one of the most influential underground genres from the late 1990s. Every sound and loop in this collection reflects months of meticulous synth programming and post processing work, showcasing the vibrant, dark, or euphoric moods characteristic of that era.

To capture the authentic old-school vibe, Joseph employed complex chains of both internal and external processing, extensively using resampling and reprocessing techniques. Significant resources were invested in acquiring specialized hardware and software, specifically tailored for this sound pack series.

The emphasis is on the hypnotic and grimy Tech Step subgenre, with hints of classic Jungle, but without any direct sampling from old records. Each drum loop is crafted from scratch using custom-made or carefully processed one-shots. These sounds are sourced from a mix of rare, vintage gear, live recordings (like drum sessions or ambient sounds), and cutting-edge modern tools, then refined through time-tested signal processing methods from the golden period of Drum and Bass production, from 1997 to 2001.

If Drum and Bass is your passion, or if you've been lucky enough to vibe all night long with this sound during its heyday, this collection will not only inspire your best bass-face but also keep your head nodding at a steady 172 bpm. Be warned, you might want to have a night-guard handy if you're prone to grinding your teeth along with those puckered lips!

Jazz, funk, soul and hip-hop are engraved in my heart, which to my doctor's horror beats at 175 syncopated intervals per minute, perhaps from having grown up on ADD stimulants and acid, or from having stayed awake for the better part of the 90s creeping across sticky warehouse floors.
