This track blends rage-trap energy, melodic vibes, and mumble-rap flavor, hype moments. It’s modern, energetic, and full of personality — just like the two young men it celebrates.

GSons

In 2022, instrumental guitarist Erik J. Pearson approached me to record an album. This was a new genre for me, and I was thrilled. I believe the only way to improve as an engineer is to step out of my comfort zone and try new things.

I welcomed Erik with open arms. We spent countless hours experimenting with microphone placement, switching out guitars, blending tracks, and discovering new editing and mixing techniques.

Erik released a few singles as promotional material before we finally released “In a New Light” in April 2023. This was the last record produced in my studio in Independence, MO.

I had the oppurtunity to play drums on this album opener, "Scotch and Soda."
